Product Description

After years of war, Earth lies in ruins. Now, it is plummeting into the sun. Your only chance for survival is to fight your way onto a shuttle to Mars. In a deteriorating landscape with hostile weather conditions, you'll need all your cunning and intelligence to defeat your enemies.

You can engage in Internet or LAN matches for up to eight players with the multiplayer mode. An easy-to-use map editor lets you create your own mission map and post it to the Internet for immediate download. Mattel Interactive will also make a steady stream of new maps and other surprises available on the Internet.

The completely 3-D landscape demands that you take it into account as you plan your troops' movements. Dynamic weather effects can lay waste to large sections of the territory, and challenging day-and-night cycles will affect your strategy. You'll want to watch the shadows change as the sun rises above the horizon or sinks lower in the sky. Be ready to rethink your strategy as you wage battle on, above, and below the Earth's surface with a full arsenal of aircraft, tanks, robots, ships, and helicopters, or construct your own units from a choice of chassis and weapon systems.

5.0 out of 5 stars Earth 2150 - An Enthralling RTS Experience... November 16, 2005
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I got this game back when it first came out and was unable to play it because my PC was too slow (my father got the game, he wasn't aware of the specfications - parents...). Anyway, we purchased a new PC about one year later, but by that time I had forgotten about "Earth 2150." However, I found it one day and being the strategy-game crazed maniac I am, I played it. Sure as hell, my machine ran the game like a charm and all I have to say is that this RTS does NOT disappoint in the slightest: allow me to explain...

The year is 2150 (well, um...I know you know already!) and the Earth is in a state of chaos. A War between the United Civilised States and the Eurasian Dynasty has caused an unavoidable cataclysmic inevitability and the Earth is doomed to be destroyed. Meanwhile, a forgotten Moon Race has also noticed the activity on Gaya's (the Earth's) surface and are fully aware of the ramifications of these happenings. All three races must now seek to escape the impending disaster by harvesting resources from the Earth to build an escape vessel of gargantuan proportions. However, resources are limited and many thousands are needed - all three races must therefore battle for dominance over the dying planet in order to escape the coming cosmic disaster. The storyline is great and highly original - it gets 10/10 from my side.

Now onto the juicy bits: as far as graphics go, this game still looks great (well, it did in 2002 and 2003). All units are immaculately detailed and well shaped. The atmospheres range from clear summer days to volcanic wastelands and frozen barrens. Night time looks fantastic and all units and structures turn on their lights for improved vision in the evening. The visual effects are stunning and the movements of each unit is unique and convincing.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like strategy games you'll love this August 20, 2000
It almost hurts me to see this game ignored when games like Force Commander and Command and Conquer: Tiberian Sun dominate sales. This is the rebirth of real-time strategy games.
Graphically, it is a wonder. Lighting is modeled excellantly with day and night cycles along with headlights on each of the vehicles. In addition, as time passes you see common weather events occer namely snow and rain. of these I think the coolest is the snow because you can see it build up on buildings and idle units.
However, the graphics aren't just for show. They help inform the player that certain changes have taken place. For instance heavy rain bogs down advancing troops while night and snow significantly cut down the line of sight of your units to one fifth. To combat night, you have the headlights this allows your units to see farther, but, at the cost being easier to be seen. So, the designers allow you to turn the lights on, off, or on an automatic cycle that switches them on at night and off during the day. Leaving them off allows you to hide your base and perform surprise attacks. Speaking of surprise attacks you can also build underground tunnel complexes so you can sneak underneath enemy bases and attack their rear.
I'm sorry I can't mention everything I want to about this game so I'll just have to list a couple of the best features: an excellent mission editor, an involving campaign, customizable units and unit AI scripts, an unique unit grouping system, and three different, balanced sides to play.

4.0 out of 5 stars Think of this as 4.5 stars October 6, 2000
This is a beautiful 3D real-time strategy game. Earth 2150 brings to the ground what Homeworld introduced to the genre. The terrain is gorgeous and deformable. The camera is very easy to use. Unique overall campaign goals to keep in mind in addition to mission goals adds a lot of depth to the game.
Speaking of depth, you can even take the battle underground in tunnels! You have to manage power for your buildings, your research needs, and whether you spend the credits you mine or send them back to the main base. You even design the units you will build by picking a base vehicle and its equipment.
All of this depth is what I find fascinating about this game; it has all this stuff crammed in, and it's even fun to play! The only problems I have with this game are with the manual. It gives a decent overview, but doesn't give a lot of details about the units, buildings, or advanced features (like platoons). But there are very good tutorials, so RTS vets can jump right in.
Earth 2150 plays great and looks great, and there is a lot to do in it. It even runs pretty well on my PII 400MHz, 96MB RAM, and 8MB ATI 3D Rage Pro integrated AGP video.

Verified Purchase
I purchased this game based upon past reviews. Boy I am glad I did, without going into to great depth here is a brief description of the game: harvest, build, and FIGHT.
The graphics are excellent and game play is fairly easy (once you're past the learning curve). I cannot comment on replay ability because I have finished a complete mission yet.
The 3D effects are unbelievable, but you better have a 3D card (I have a Voodoo that I love).
I feel this game was money well spent, (as I'm sure you know there's nothing worst than getting a game that sucks) and look forward to many hours of playing.
