This review is from: On Earth As It Is in Heaven [Explicit] (MP3 Download)
Gotta tell you folks, this is one cool album. If you like your metal with Gothic overtones but not doom/gloom Goth-like lyrics, then this is an album you'll want to check out. I happen to like it very much!

The first track, Descension is a lovely accoustic guitar melody that just draws you in as if a master musician at the Crossroads was taunting you with learning the Blues. It's haunting and lively. The only bad part is it's too short! lol At 2;05, I'd loved it if the man could've extended it out further.

The next track I'm partial too is "Violation". All of my siblings & friens who like hard core heavy metal all tell me they like this song and that's because the opening riff is kick *ss! You can certainly hear those humbuckers on his B. C. Rich guitar just chuggin out the sounds. "My name will live forever near and far...Violation! Violation! Violation! Violation!" This is a song about ROCK MUSIC and the pure joy of just enjoying the violation of your soul when you give it over to the music. "It's the Witchcraft of the soul, called Rock n' Roll! Violation! Violation! Violation! Violation!" With lyrics like that, how can you not like it?

"Ravishing Music" is the song that got me interested in this guy's music in the first place. He had it on one of those compilation CD's that come with glossy music magazines out on the music stands. While I'm not thrilled with the vocals on this song, the lyrics rock & the riff is smokin'. The tone of the song is bitchin' too! "I'm burnin', in a cauldron of sin! I'm gonna drag you in! Ravishing Music, take my hand; carry me to your promised land; Ravishing music you ahve control, take away my soul!"

The only track on here I don't care for is "Rainbow's End". I dunno but it sounds too much like he wrote that with a movie soundtrack in mind. It just doesn't hit me the right way the rest of the album did. Can't help it. Not that it's a bad track but rather just not one I care for.

Overall this is a great album of terrific, 4/4 Rock & Roll music with deep bass guitar, striking drums, chuggin' guitar & smooth vocals with "Gods-help-me!" lyrics.

Some folks liken this guy to a Christian Rocker but I do not. I think he's just misunderstood and quite capable of ripping out good tunes without all of the industry hype that so many other bands fall into.

Creative, thought provoking original music!!!! Non-derivative theme that explores a whole new area of modern music. From out of left field (and the back woods of Alabama)comes a contemporary fresh voice in Heavy Metal music. A "must buy" album.
