4.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious satire, great scares
There are times when you want some comedy in your horror and this is one of those times...a very funny look at environmentalism and horror films. The director (Mister Ooh-La-La) does a great job of keeping the laughs coming while staying true to the horror movie conventions that we all know and love. A great first film, you should really check this one out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Funny if you can force yourself to watch it
This movie hurt me. It caused physical pain to watch. I took it in three batches over three days.

Why did I stick it out? The dialog is hilarious. The acting is, well, they don't have any acting in this movie. The camera work is almost as absent as the acting. The people say funny things, but they say them very poorly in a poorly filmed movie...

The director, first name Mister, last name Ohh-la-la, might have a future in movies. But first, he needs to learn how to direct one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great indie horror flick!, July 4, 2009

If you're a fan of Troma, John Water's or just great indie horror, buy "Earth Day"! It's full of great special effects, above par acting (for a no budget horror flick especially) and witty writing, you can tell that Mr. Ooh La La (the writer/director) is a name you'll be seeing around in the years to come.

This is an odd little film...I didn't know what to make of it at first, but ended up being really surprised at how funny it was. It's got some very inventive kills (one of them in the first 5 minutes) and the acting is really strong (you know what they say, drama is easy but comedy is hard)...all in all, it's worth watching and even owning as you'll probably want to to go back and watch it again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Silly little movie, April 24, 2010
This review is from: Earth Day (DVD)
Earth Day is only watchable if you're into movies so bad they're funny because they're so cheesy. Personally, I was struck by the blatant stereotyping and what could be considered racism. Anyway, watch it if you're into badly written, directed, acted and filmed movies. I did get a few laughs out of it, though, I guess.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must See For Movie Junkies, September 3, 2009

Great film, will make you laugh, cringe and leave you wanting more. Awesome film. Was filmed in Eugene, Oregon and contains, sex, hippies and violence. That said, I think this film is a little too realistic at times. Well done.

Thought this movie would have been better! I found the acting pretty bad and one character was just more annoying than anything. Id pass on this movie!

I really enjoyed this little indie film! It was different, had me laughing out loud throughout, I highly recommend it! I plan on watching it again and again. I am NOT easy to please. The humor was above average for indie films, the acting was very good, the wacky doctor was enormously entertaining! I think if you enjoy unusual indie films that have a good dose of wacky humor, then you will like this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Earth Day is Damn Good, September 8, 2009
This review is from: Earth Day (DVD)
Set entirely in Lane County, Oregon, Earth Day captures the local flavor perfectly: rebellious kids, weed everywhere, and long pizza delivery times. Borrowing from Brian De Palma's Sisters, Earth Day remains original and fresh. Unlike most low-budget films, we are treated to a cohesive and easy-to-follow work. The cliches (cops & donuts, "party foul") and over-the-top acting add to the comfortable campy feeling and fit the actors well. And, the themes of protecting our "Mother Gaia" and racial profiling bring a level of social responsibility rarely seen in gore films. And, somehow, we have made an entertaining movie sound boring. Watch it and be awed by the creative killing.

Witness the emergence of a new comedic genious. You can tell from the opening credits that this movie has soul. With this first film being such a success you can tell that Mr. Ooh La La is destined for great things.
