5.0 out of 5 stars tears for an end I wished would never come, March 9, 2005
This review is from: Earth Dreams (Kerrion Empire, Book 3) (Hardcover)
Over the time I read this series, I became very attached to the two central characters, Shebat--born in backwater Earth and out of twist of fate, whisked away into a world of high technology where she becomes dream dancer (with the ability to see into the future), cruiser pilot, and heir apparent to the most powerful corporate/political family in space, and Chaeron, second son

of this family. Beautiful, sly, and canny, he persuades a 16 year old Shebat into marrying him early on, as he sees it would to be his political advantage. Throughout the rest of the story, they work together... and against each other in a plot that's too complex for me to do it justice in a few words.

When I got to the end of the final novel tonight, I read each page very slowly and by the time I finished, I was in tears (it is very rare I cry in books)...in some strange way, all this time I felt like I'd been living in this world with these characters and it was just beautiful to see the decisions that they made, the relationships that were developed, severed, and mended, and how the story came to a close. I was not disappointed.

And best of all, she wrote it with a scope for a continuation.. and though she herself never wrote it, it is something the reader can imagine. There is so much more about this world that I am left wanting to know, but I think it also opens up a lot of scope for the depth that science fiction can achieve.

4.0 out of 5 stars Last volume of the Trilogy, October 7, 2000
By
"amberangel" (Quezon City, Philippines) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Earth Dreams (Kerrion Empire, Book 3) (Hardcover)
The last volume of a trilogy began with Dream Dancer, it chronicles the rise of Shebat and her husband to power. This novel is not as heavily descriptive as the previous volumes. It's easier to read and the story flows more smoothly-- bringing the reader to a satisfying conclusion. The ending is a bit trite. It leaves one with a sense that the story might still continue... maybe.
