An broad perspective on ecological ethics,
By John J. Morelli, Ph.D. (Crompond, New York) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Earth Ethics: Environmental Ethics, Animal Rights and Practical Applications (Paperback)
Sterba has compiled a comprehensive list of readings on topics relating to ecological ethics. That is, issues important to conciencious citizens of earth and how they should act to best preserve their global environment and treat their fellow inhabitants. Many of the separate readings put into perspective the moral and ethical teachings of past and present, and apply them to an increasingly earth-responsible perspective. Furthoremore, an obvious effort by the authors to draw similarities amoung themselves into a cohesive statement of ecological responsibility succeeds without compromising differences in each perspective. My only critisism is the inconsistency in citation style that leads to insufficient detailing of sources for certain facts used to support important positions. This is especially true of the two political writers. Citing the sources for data quoted would lend heavier credence to the positions they expound.
