5.0 out of 5 stars Works Great!
I purchased this soap locally for 12.00 for one bottle, so the price on Amazon is several dollars cheaper per bottle! I make my own soap for the warm/hot water loads, and I use this for loads using cold water. It cleans just as well as the store brand I was using (Purex) and is easier on the environment and our clothes. It does not leave a residue, although I do have...

3.0 out of 5 stars Irritates Sensitive Skin
Although I love the true lavender fragrance, this just isn't nearly as good as Country Save. I have a HE front loader and use twice what they recommend...and we have softened water! Although my clothes were pretty clean, they didn't seem exceptionally clean like they are with Country Save. Ecos doesn't seem to get out that extra dirt in a wash cloth or the juice stain...

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, light smell and gets the job done... mostly, June 26, 2008

This review is from: Earth Friendly Products Ecos 2x Liquid Laundry Detergent, Lavender, 100-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
My favorite thing about this product is that it has a very nice, light lavender smell that's very natural. It doesn't clean quite as well as the mainstream, more toxic stuff, so I've found that you have to soak your dirtiest clothes for about 10 minutes before turning on the wash cycle. I would also recommend pouring the detergent directly on even simple stains and leaving it for about 10 minutes before washing.

When I take the clothes out of the dryer (no need for softeners, as there are soy softeners in the product), my clothes just smell clean. Nothing artificial. The soap doesn't bubble and the water doesn't get slippery, but I know it's still working because my clothes come out clean.

This detergent has a *very* light fragrance (the lavender scent is a pleasant herbal smell not "flowery" at all). The built-in fabric softener softens nominally and it does *not* prevent static cling! After drying, it's hard to smell the lavender fragrance at all. I'd say it's a great laundry detergent, but you'll need a separate fabric softener (especially in winter!).

1.0 out of 5 stars Stains Whites, March 9, 2011
This review is from: Earth Friendly Products Ecos 2x Liquid Laundry Detergent, Lavender, 100-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
I've bought about 9,000 things on Amazon, and this is my first review. When I went back to school, a lot changed about my clothes-washing regimen: new white undershirts, new washer-dryer, and new detergent. Unfortunately, after a few washes (color separated, hot water), I noticed my new undershirts were getting light colored stains that weren't coming out with subsequent washes or even bleach.

I found that my fabric softener cup was full of gunk from the previous tenant. I gave it a thorough cleaning (AKA threw it away), and bought all new undershirts. But they got stained too!

I bought some Tide with Bleach Alternative, and I no longer have the problem. I'm embarrassed to say that it took so long for me to find the culprit.

I don't think it is an earth friendly product if it makes whites one-time use only.

Although my clothes were pretty clean, they didn't seem exceptionally clean like they are with Country Save. Ecos doesn't seem to get out that extra dirt in a wash cloth or the juice stain on a towel. The other problem I had was that under garments washed in this irritated my sensitive skin; however, the detergent did not bother my husband or child. I'll use up the bottles I received on towels and outer garments but will not purchase this again. Back to Country Save powder for me!

4.0 out of 5 stars An Honest Review, May 9, 2011
This review is from: Earth Friendly Products Ecos 2x Liquid Laundry Detergent, Lavender, 100-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
If you are washing heavily soiled clothes on a regular basis, honestly this detergent will not get them as clean or leave them as perfumed as Tide; which I was formerly using and still need to use sometimes. So if your primary concern is clean, stick with Tide. However, if your primary concern is protecting the environment, this is most effective earth-friendly detergent that I have found thus far.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, green way to get your clothes clean!, January 9, 2010

The light lavender fragrance is very nice, doesn't leave your clothes smelling perfumed, and doesn't irritate my baby's skin. If you like your laundry to smell like something other than just clean clothes, you'll want to buy a separate fabric softener, or add a little bit of essential oil to this soap when you wash. We use Nellie's Dryer Balls, and I haven't noticed any static issues.

I just got a front loading washer, and scoured Amazon for a cheap, well-rated, HE option for getting our clothes clean. This product works great! I have three kids ranging in age from 17 months to 7 years, and this detergent, along with a tablespoon of Oxiclean on the dirtiest loads, has really gotten out everything! From blood to poop to vomit to mud, everything literally came out in the wash. I used the smallest amount of detergent marked on the cap, and it worked wonderfully and rinsed clean.

I've bought several 'natural' cleaners before, and many don't quite get the job done, so you have to rewash, or use more product. It's nice to find something that's natural and works so well.

I was pleasantly surprised at what a good job the detergent did getting everything out. I would buy this again in a heartbeat, and will definitely try other Earth Friendly Products.

5.0 out of 5 stars great stuff!, June 13, 2008
This review is from: Earth Friendly Products Ecos 2x Liquid Laundry Detergent, Lavender, 100-Ounce Bottle (Pack of 4) (Health and Beauty)
Was a total Tide devotee and was convinced to try Ecos by both a co-worker and my mother. This stuff works great!!!!! You only use a very small amount and it also has a fabric softener so no more Bounty sheets for me either! I have a 6 month old and it even gets out baby food stains. really glad I tried it!

4.0 out of 5 stars ECOS Laundry Detergent, October 26, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Ecos is safe for our septic system- thats why we use it. It gets our clothes clean and they smell fresh but not perfumie. It's not as sofisticated as say...tide or some of the others but it works. We will continue to use it because it is gentl and it works. I recommend ECOS to other's who are wanting a "harmless" washing detergent. We like it:)

4.0 out of 5 stars So far, I'm loving it!!, October 18, 2011

I have used Ecos for about a week now, and so far, it seems to do the job! I LOVE the light lavender smell, and my washer smells great after running a load. Unfortuntely the fragrance does not last after drying the clothes, but that is the least of my concerns. My clothes have been coming out quite clean. I have washed dark jeans also, and did not notice any color bleeding or fading either. However when I wash my whites, I tend to add a little bit of bleach, and the clothes always come out great. I have not tried washing whites without the bleach to test this detergent, so I cannot comment on that.
To the reviewers who say that their clothes smelt weird after the wash/or irritated the skin, the problem may be that you are using too much of the detergent, and thus, leaving a residue on the clothes. I have a HE washer, and it needs very very little of the detergent. Initially, I used to add more, and I observed that my clothes felt a little sticky because of the residue. So, in short, just follow the instructions on the bottle, measure and add the detergent, and you are good to go!!
