3.0 out of 5 stars Be careful not to use too much, especially in water bottles!
I have purchased this dish soap twice and while I love the scent and the price, I have realized that you must be careful to use a very, very, VERY small amount when washing things like water bottles, coffee traveler mugs, etc. I have a couple of Sigg water bottles (LOVE them!) and have noticed an almost unbearable scent and taste of the soap whenever I wash them. Don't...

5.0 out of 5 stars Effective, Great-smelling Dish Soap, October 24, 2005
This review is from: Earth Friendly Products Dishmate Liquid Dishwashing Cleaner, Natural Almond, 25-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 12) (Health and Beauty)
I really like Earth Friendly's almond-scented dish soap. It has a very pleasant scent that's a nice change from the typical citrus or floral scented soaps, and it is a very effective cleanser. As advertised, a little does go a long way, but you may find yourself using more than necessary when you first begin to use this product, since it does not produce the abundant amount of suds you are likely used to with other more mainstream dish soaps. Don't let the lack of fluffy suds fool you--I've found this soap to be comparable to other brands in terms of cutting grease. Most of all I appreciate the fact that this natural product is biodegradable and more environmentally friendly than more mainstream brands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly hypoallergenic - i.e. not allergenic. Powerful cleaning! Nice subtle scent., November 20, 2007

My family has problems with skin sensitivities and allergies. Other brands, such as Dawn, would sometimes give us itchy rashes. So we tried this, and were pleasantly surprised. We are not fanatical about earth-friendly or natural products, but are becoming converts after trying this. We were worried that it would not clean well. However, it has worked great.

This cleans well, including greasy pots, pans; and greasy plastic too. In comparison, Dawn is only a tiny bit better at handling grease; but this Dishmate product is almost as good at cleaning, yet it seems gentle on my hands. No rashes in the 3+ years we have been using it. And better for the environment.

I have a sensitive nose, and normally detest air fresheners and flowery perfumes. This has a mild, subtle scent of natural almond and is not perfume-y. The bottle purchased 1-2 years ago seemed to have a stronger almond scent. The bottle purchased recently has such a mild scent, I can barely smell it. I actually miss the stronger almond scent. It is also available in pear scent, and perhaps others. And it is available in single bottles of course, not just the bulk carton of 12 as listed here.

A little goes a long way. It doesn't create as much foamy bubble-suds as some brands; so at first glance you might mistakenly think you are getting a less-concentrated watered-down product. However, in terms of cleaning power, it seems to be about as equally concentrated as the well-known heavily-advertised brands.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nothing Else Compares, January 12, 2008
This review is from: Earth Friendly Products Dishmate Liquid Dishwashing Cleaner, Natural Almond, 25-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 12) (Health and Beauty)
This is hands down my favorite dish soap. The stuff smells fantastic, is cruelty-free, environmentally safe, plus something else people really don't seem to think about much: non-toxic. I challenge you: try this product, read the ingredients, then go to your local supermarket and look at the stuff that's on the shelves there. You can't pronounce most of the ingredients, you don't know what they are, and if you smell the stuff, you know darned well you shouldn't be ingesting it or getting it on your skin. The days of having to compromise cleaning ability, style, smell, whatever your standards are in order to choose the eco-friendly, cruelty-free products are over and this product is one example of the proof. One you try it, you'll never buy that P&G, Unilever, etc... garbage again! You and your loved ones will be better off for it, too. The other products this company makes are great too, this is just my favorite one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Dish Soap, November 23, 2007
I have tried almost every eco dish soap out there and like this one the best. It has real suds that stick around and works well. You only have to use a little for results and is nice to your hands.

Amazon has some of the best prices I could find, including my co-op and buying clubs. Especially if you use the subscription service.

5.0 out of 5 stars I use it on everything I own; I mean everything!, December 22, 2008
This review is from: Earth Friendly Products Dishmate Liquid Dishwashing Cleaner, Natural Almond, 25-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 12) (Health and Beauty)

After trying many "eco-friendly" products, especially dish liquids, I was becoming very disappointed. I was so chemically sensitive, I would often feel bad for the rest of the day if I spent much time in contact. The skin does absorb the chemical ingredients. I eventually figured out that the SLS or SLES(anything with lauryl or laureth or similar terms) were the ingredients that were making me spacy and fatigued. And they are right in there in many of the so-called healthy alternative detergents!

One company, Seventh Generation, uses flowery, eco-obfuscating language; they never tell you that their product actually contains sodium laureth sulfate (similar in structure to sulfuric acid), the cheapest of sudsing agents, which is found in almost all "mainstream" personal care items; dish detergent, body wash, shampoo, etc.

When I went to their website to complain, they replied that they use "a mix of functional descriptions and specific ingredients on...labels", to "allow us to refine formulas without the expense of having to reprint labels with each refinement". And just try to uncover from their website, what the actual ingredients are. I am admittedly not a computer genius (read brain fog), but it took an unreasonable amount of digging to uncover the ingredient list.

The point of my review here for Dishmate Liquid is, after I found it to be so body friendly that I could have prolonged contact without sensitivity symptoms, I decided to try it as a body wash (my skin was irritable no matter what I used to wash it). It was great! I no longer felt "bad" after taking a shower. It was only a matter of time before I tried it as a shampoo and, surprise, it doesn't hurt your eyes (as gentle as a baby shampoo), and my hair is beautiful!

I no longer buy any soaps, body washes or shampoo. I add a few drops of essential oil to diluted Ultra Dishmate as a hand and body wash. I have recommended (and gifted) this liquid to anyone I know with allergy, chemical sensitivity, or skin problems.

The best part of this is, since I have minimized contact with major sources of irritation, the entire chemical sensitivity problem has become much less prominent in my life. This Dishmate Liquid has actually improved my life! Try this. It may be a change for you too!

We have used this dish cleaner for two years at our mountain cabin because we have a septic tank; we want biodegradable, "green" products near the river. I like it so much I now use it for our home use. Plenty of "sudsing"; good on grease. and I like the smell. Great item.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great cleaner - recommend to everyone, October 16, 2008
This review is from: Earth Friendly Products Dishmate Liquid Dishwashing Cleaner, Natural Almond, 25-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 12) (Health and Beauty)
I have been slowly weeding out traditional cleaners in my home both for myself (very sensitive skin) and one of my cats who has a terrible allergic eye condition. I have been trying a lot of green dishwashing detergents and most of them are awful. They're expesive and most of them require 3 cleanings to get your dishes clean. This ECOS product is the exception. I have found it cleans almost as well as Dawn on greasy items. The smell is great - it reminds me of almond candy. I would recommend this product to everyone trying to find a green dishwashing detergent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, earth friendly., July 18, 2007
Does just as good a job as the Dawns, etc. but it's also earth friendly. Has one of the best prices of the earth friendly dish soaps. You only need a little to do the job. Great for septic tanks or earth friendly consumers.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Alternative Dish Soap, January 5, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Earth Friendly Products Dishmate Liquid Dishwashing Cleaner, Natural Almond, 25-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 12) (Health and Beauty)
We bought this in an effort to find natural alternatives to the more commercial (and harsh) dish soaps. We also have an interest in products that are friendlier to septic or greywater systems.

As it turns out, this soap works very well. If any dishes need scrubbing, it's no more scrubbing than was needed with the commercial soaps. My wife was concerned that it didn't make a lot of suds... she thought that was a sign that a soap was working... but after using it a while, she's happy with it. The scent in it is also very light, not overpowering like some others we've tried. We will continue to buy this product.

I've really enjoyed using this product (for as much as you can enjoy doing the dishes) I started using it after reading Organic Housekeeping by Ellen Sandbeck. Since I was using a castile soap (Dr. Bronners) for hands and body, I switched to this product in the shower as well and just added pure essentials oils for fragrance.
