This review is from: The Earth Goddess: Celtic and Pagan Legacy of the Landscape (Hardcover)
I found this book while browsing for texts about pagan history. The Earth Goddess explores the ancient images of the goddess found in Britain and Ireland which have been obscured and embedded in the christian culture which followed. It is a guide to specific sites and a thoughtful presentation of the enduring symbols and evidence of the goddess belief system (nature worship, earth, motherhood and regeneration). Intelligent without being new age sappy. Also recommended: The Myth of the Goddess: Evolution of an Image, by Anne Baring and Jules Cashford

This book is good as a reference guide if you are going to the United Kingdom on holiday. I could not connect with it at all. It is very dry.It reads as an overpriced travel guide for goddess sites. |
