This book has a very timely message about the need for prayer. It also presents a practical approach to the "how to" part of a prayerful life. I enjoyed it very much and got alot out of it.

This review is from: On Earth as It Is in Heaven: How the Lord's Prayer Teaches Us to Pray More Effectively (Kindle Edition)
I read this book last summer (2010) and found it incredibly inspiring. I knew then that I wanted to run a bible study using this book. The author completely breaks down the Lords Prayer, so each chapter deals with just one line (or three or four words) of the Lord's Prayer. He shows how the Lords Prayer reveals God, our relationship with God and our relationship with each other as a faith community. Through breaking down the Lords Prayer, he shows us the basic model of prayer that Jesus taught, and how the Lords prayer is all encompassing, without rambling on, and provides us with a basic prayer model that you can use to create your own complete prayers to God. At the end of this month I have a ten week bible study starting using this book. We will read one chapter a week and come together to discuss it. I wish the book had study questions at the end of each chapter, but there are tons of wonderful thought provoking ideas to discuss in each chapter. Each chapter is also full of bible references from both old and new testaments. It is a great book even for the advanced bible student. I am looking forward to the group discussions. I wholeheartedly recommend this book for anyone searching for a deeper connection with God.
P.S. I read this in the paperback book format.

Pastor Wiersbe has done us a huge favor in simplifying the necessity of prayer. "Prayer isn't an option; it's an obligation and an opportunity for us to glorify God's name and receive His blessings." pg. 12 "The bigger prayer is in our lives, the smaller our burdens and battles will appear and the greater our blessings will become." pg. 13 "To neglect prayer is to cheapen everything Jesus accomplished for us at Calvary and is doing for us now in glory." pg. 13 That's just a tiny sample of the beginning folks! Pastor Wiersbe then goes on to explain the Lord's Prayer is a model that Jesus gave us, and "that just about every prayer burden we might have can fit into each of the six requests.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great little book, August 3, 2011

Quick, easy read yet really brings out the nuances of the Lord's Prayer as a template for our own prayers. It has changed my views on praying that prayer. Not an in-depth or studious book, but for a Christian wanting to learn to pray better, it is a good starter. Not so much aimed at Christians who have read many books on prayer or been praying all their life, but perfect for a new Christian or a Christian new to praying.

what can one say if Warren Wiersbe writes a book you know you can't go wrong. Can't write much about content as I just now got the time to get into it and I know I won't be disappointed.
