implausible but entertaining,
By Scott Jackson (Claresholm, Alberta, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Earth Is The Lord'S (Paperback)
This book was a flight of fancy that is highly entertaining. I found myself debating 'to sleep or not to sleep'. I carries a futuristic highly technically trained officer into a culture which has intentionally limited technology use without limiting the study and accumulation of that knowledge. Throughout the book the question of just what is human and why is interwoven between the interaction of the interlopers and their captors come allies. There are more than enough plot twists and suprises to keep anyone intrigued. It's the sort of story you know where it's going, mostly, but you surely don't know how the author will take you there. The parallels to the real Mongol Empire were interesting enough to have me seeking out historically accurate information about those times. A little heavy wading into the first part to get all of the background necessary but well worth the effort.

Always consider this the biography of Genghis Khan,
This review is from: Earth Is The Lords (Paperback)
I am sure someone will correct me, but I always consider this book the biography of Genghis Khan.Regardless it is a great book to read. I have bought it several times in my life as i lose it every time I move. This book is one of those that always finds it's was back to me. What makes a man happy in the end? Some may ask instead, what makes like worth living? Genghis Khan had his own answer and it was not the love of a woman or the love of friends. Sadly he may be right.
