Non-Toxic But Can *Cause* Rashes; Shelf Life is Ridiculously Short,

This review is from: Earth Mama Angel Baby Angel Baby Lotion, 8-Ounce Bottle (Health and Beauty)
My mom bought us a whole care package of Earth Mama Angel Baby products after our second child was born. She had done exhaustive research on the safety of a number of different baby products (you'd be surprised what's in most of it) and this was one of the very, very few to rate a zero hazard on the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Database. So, that's point one in its favor.
So, for the actual product. It's a creamy substance, with a strong scent that I can only describe as being warm, but somewhat creamsicles. If you've ever tried the shampoo, it is the same scent. Strong, but relatively pleasant, and really kind of... yummy. The ingredient list, while not hazardous, includes more herbal ingredients than I think is necessary to make an effective lotion. My issue with this is that with that many ingredients, it's difficult to make a product truly hypoallergenic, because there are a number of possible agents to irritate unusually sensitive skin. That said, this lotion worked fine for my newborn, but my older daughter immediately broke out in a rash. Both have senstive skin. On my youngest, this was a fairly reasonable moisturizer - no worse or better than any other we've tried. It did have the advantage of not making her skin feel oily, I suppose. But I eventually switched to a pure oil instead for after bath time, so I guess that wasn't the most important detail to me. I shelved the remainder of this lotion and planned to use it sparingly for myself over the next few months. But a couple months later when I pumped the lotion out, it smelled fermented, like fruit gone bad, and it was a smell equally strong to the original smell. I'd had the lotion maybe 6 months total. Two plus years ago, when we bought this lotion, the price for was a bit steeper. They had to be ordered directly from the company plus shipping. So I was pretty miffed. I mean, a warning that the lack of preservative might require refrigeration would have been nice. Particularly since we ended up having the exact same issue with the shampoo by this company. In short, I wouldn't buy it again. I'm still searching for the perfect moisturizer with two eczema-covered kids, and until this I'll just stick with the more easily-accessible California Baby. Perhaps you can learn from my mistake, or at least make a more informed decision. I think this is moderately good lotion. But only if it is stored as if it were a perishable food item. The bottom balm by this company is a safer bet in terms of shelf life and is a better, more soothing moisturizer as well.

i started using this lotion on my 15 month because of reviews i read about it. First of all, i loved the smell, absorbs easily into the skin..my babys skin was not oily after application, his skin looked soo radiant and smooth, he looked fresh after hours of application. But after a week,i noticed he developed rashes at his back, and on his face. it was not severe but it never occured with the his previous lotion. His old lotion is too oily and fragrant free but it worked well with his eczema and irritations. He never suffered from any kind of rash or flare up wen i used it. i thought this lotion was supposed to heal irritations but it did not seem to work. i loved it, with the smell and all but it just does not work with irritations on my babys skin.

This stuff smells heavenly. It's simply amazing. I think it smells a little citrus-y but my daughter says it smells like vanilla. It contains both organic ingredients. I have never smelled anything like it. Pure. Natural. Amazing. The light scent lingers for some time. It's not too powerful but you can tell that it's there. It smells nothing like other 'baby' lotions. I've noticed that most organic products smell (feel or work) like their conventional counterparts. I will never go back to conventional (chemical filled) baby products again.
This lotion is not greasy. This lotion goes on smooth and soaks right in. Does a great job getting rid of dry, itchy skin- even eczema- without the greasy or filmy feel of other lotions. And like other EMAB products, a little goes a loooong way. I use this lotion along with EMAB baby wash/shampoo, they are an amazing pair. I'm hooked. This is the only lotion I will ever buy for my babies. It's SAFE, effective, organic, works great and smells amazing. What more could you ask for in a lotion? This lotion does cost slightly more than conventional lotions but you can grab pretty good deals here on Amazon. I feel the extra cost is worth the peace of mind for using a safe lotion on your children. And it's organic like all the EMAB products of which I haven't found one that I don't like.

I absolutely love this stuff. In my family we all use it. It moisturizes so well and it smells pretty nice too. I've just recently switched to earth mama angel baby products and I wanted to try the body wash foam first and see how I liked it. Well I did, you'll have to see my review of it over there. So I ordered this lotion. I was really pondering whether to order the Earth Mama butter or this. Well I wanted a product we could all use and after reading about rooibos and the good things it can do I chose this one. Not to mention it's cheaper than the Mama butter lotion. So once it got here the first thing I did was toss the girls in the tub wash them up the Angel baby body wash, get them rinsed off and out of the tub. As I was putting this lotion on I noticed that it went so smoothly across the body. I didn't have to use a ton to cover every square inch. It soaked in rather quickly and my daughters' skin felt like silk. Their skin even looked more radiant with a slight sheen. 3 hours later they still have very silky skin and smell great! I've been using it too and I love how it feels.

I bought this based on reviews that I read for my son's sensitive skin. I've tried all the known brands like Johnson's, Aveeno, etc... and discovered that he has eczema. With no improvements with the typical sensitive skin products, I tried an organic brand called "Love Me, Baby Me" and it did wonders for his skin. Pretty much a 95% improvement. I figured that it must be the "organic" that helped and wanted to try other "organic" brands that weren't as expensive, so I purchased this lotion and it was very watery. The lotion is highly fragrant and caused rashy bumps on his arms. I also tried "California Baby" and the same thing, it's really thin and not as effective. I guess I will have to stick with the "Love Me, Baby Me" even though it's more pricey. Hope this is helpful for those of you in search of the right lotion and baby wash for your baby's sensitive skin.

When my (now 11 month old) son was a newborn, he had extremely dry skin on his arms and legs. I did not want to use baby lotion on him because he was so little, but I finally broke down and tried some (we'd received a gift basket with Baby Magic body wash and lotions). The Baby Magic lotion seemed to help at first, but his skin kept getting more and more dry. I'd heard about Earth Mama Angel Baby products but was hesitant to try them due to the price. But finally I broke down and bought their body wash and lotion for my son to see if they'd help with his dry skin. Within just a few days of using them, the problem had mostly cleared up. Besides that, both the wash and the lotion have yummy orange-vanilla smell. Some people have complained about the lotion feeling "thin", but I think it's creamy and feels good - it's just not overly oily or heavy, which to me is a plus. The body wash foams nicely and is actually easier to use than the Baby Magic stuff I was using before. The only caveat is that the body wash is NOT tear free, so you have to be careful not to get it in baby's eyes. I'm beyond happy with both the wash and lotion. They smell and feel great, and I feel better knowing that my son is not being exposed to so many harsh chemicals.

I bought this lotion on the recommendation of a friend...and really liked it! As a first time mom, I've turned into a a "crazy organic mom" according to my sister, so I was looking for really safe lotions. This smells like a orange cream-sicle, absorbs quickly, non-greasy, and moisturizes pretty well. The pricing on Amazon is good compared to other retailers. Compared to the California Baby brand, this one wins hands down. California Baby was pricier, has a "waxy" smell, a little filmy when dry, and causes a stinging sensation when I tried it on my own eye area, as a test to see how it felt on delicate skin. This lotion didn't cause any stinging.

Lotion works fine and our baby hasn't had any reactions. I chuckled when I just read one reviewer that mention that she thought it smells citrus-y and her daughter smells vanilla. It smells like both! She smells exactly like a creamsicle -- both vanilla and orange.

I heard nothing but good things about this lotion. Since using my daughter has developed a rash(though I can't really know if this lotion caused it) and it doesn't moisturize very well. Also, it smells very strongly of ALCOHOL, probably because there is a lot of alcohol in it. I prefer Mild By Nature Every Day Lotion by Madre Labs by a long shot.
