Beautiful artwork, great character development and compelling story makes this series, for me at least, a series I can reread and enjoy over and over again.

UPDATE 19/JULY/2010

I wrote my original review of Earth X Companion earlier this year. It wasn't a real review of my part but a complaint because nowhere on the web I could find a real review of it. Nothing that could help give me a true perspective of it so I can decide to buy it or not.

Now, after I read the whole Earth X saga, and finishing the Companion too, this is my review of the book "EARTH X TRILOGY COMPANION":

Is damn good!. I loved it begioning to end. There is a bunch of good stuff that makes you appreciate the work and story of the work made for the entire saga.
First you get a compendiun were there is the name of the comic issue contained within the chapters of the saga, for example: Spiderman origin, that is on chapter 5 or 6 (I beleive) of Earth X belongs to "Amazong Fantastic # 9".
Then there is a sketch book with the early designs of the charaters made by Alex Ross. Only the sight of Black Bolt without his helmet showing his mutation worth the book for me.
LAter there is the sript and rough drawings of the origin of X-51. This was set to be published before Earth X #0 but never came to be. Is black and white. Not an amazing comic but was ok.
You can also find the (hard to find) Earth X 1/2, which is a story narrated by Nick Fury of his origin and how everything comes to S#!T when everybody start mutating. Good stuff!.
And finally there is a cover gallery drawn and colored by Ross, which is beautiful.
I LOVED IT!!!.

BUT:
Let's be fair. I won't change my 1 star grade because of this:

This Companion will only have sense if you get the WHOLE Earth X saga: Earth X, Universe X vol 1, Universe X Vol 2, Paradise X Vol 1 and Paradise X Vol 2. From all these list of books, the companion is the smaller and the most expensive.
On the other hand, you really don't need this one to get the story. Not the X-51 story nor the Nick Fury one will help or ad anything to the saga. Those are only bonuses.

My advice: BUY IT ONLY IF YOU MUST AND IF YOU CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THE EARTH X SAGA. IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT, I ADVICE YOU NOT TO GET IT. TO MUCH MONEY FOR 200 PAGES, AND YOU DON'T REALLY NEED IT.
