5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous item--perfect for kitchen compost collection, February 5, 2008
Your compost will eventually end up outside, of course...but until then you need a good place to put it--you know, it doesn't leak, it doesn't smell, it's large enough for a couple weeks worth of compost. This is the ideal item--durable, perfect size and controls odors. It has an activated carbon filter on the top that collects odors. My filter has worked for 8 months and I just now need to replace it. Because it is open at the top, you get aerobic decomposition of the compost, the good kind, that doesn't produce many odors. Great item.

Great size for your composting needs. No smell from the pail at all.. Carbon filter takes care of that. Great buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes my life much easier!, September 7, 2009

This review is from: EarthCare Kitchen Composter Hinged Top Filtered
Okay, it's just a compost bin. But I had previously been putting food scraps, etc. in bowls on top of my refrigerator, then taking them out every few days to the outdoor bin. It smelled, attracted fruit flies and ants, and it was always overflowing. Now that I have this bin, which I actually leave on my countertop, I can empty it once a week if I want to and it doesn't smell up my kitchen! It fits a fairly large volume of material compared to the bowls I was using before. I usually hose it down in the backyard after I've emptied it, leave it out in the sun to dry, then bring it back in and start refilling it. Highly recommended!
