5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous item--perfect for kitchen compost collection
Your compost will eventually end up outside, of course...but until then you need a good place to put it--you know, it doesn't leak, it doesn't smell, it's large enough for a couple weeks worth of compost. This is the ideal item--durable, perfect size and controls odors. It has an activated carbon filter on the top that collects odors. My filter has worked for 8 months and...

1.0 out of 5 stars Cheaply made product
Item is cheaply constructed. Latch does not snap as lid and body are not aligned properly. Was expecting much more especially from reviews. Ships in a cardboard box of "Gold Oil" brand automotive oil. Worth $5-$10, but not more. Can probably do better with a 5-gal bucket and lid from your local hardware store. CANNOT recommend this product.

This is the ideal item--durable, perfect size and controls odors. It has an activated carbon filter on the top that collects odors. My filter has worked for 8 months and I just now need to replace it. Because it is open at the top, you get aerobic decomposition of the compost, the good kind, that doesn't produce many odors. Great item.

Great size for your composting needs. No smell from the pail at all.. Carbon filter takes care of that. Great buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes my life much easier!, September 7, 2009

Okay, it's just a compost bin. But I had previously been putting food scraps, etc. in bowls on top of my refrigerator, then taking them out every few days to the outdoor bin. It smelled, attracted fruit flies and ants, and it was always overflowing. Now that I have this bin, which I actually leave on my countertop, I can empty it once a week if I want to and it doesn't smell up my kitchen! It fits a fairly large volume of material compared to the bowls I was using before. I usually hose it down in the backyard after I've emptied it, leave it out in the sun to dry, then bring it back in and start refilling it. Highly recommended!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great, July 4, 2009

This little composter works great! We keep it under the kitchen sink and the filter really keeps any odors in check. The only thing that I would improve is making it a little bit bigger. We seem to fill it up quickly. The filters are a must.

5.0 out of 5 stars kitchen compost bin, October 25, 2008

It's bigger than I thought it would be - but that's a good thing! Fits under the kitchen sink quite well - and the snapping lid makes sure (along with the filter) that smells don't escape (and "critters" don't enter)! The size is a bonus in that we don't have to empty daily, unless we want to! Great bargain!

4.0 out of 5 stars No Smells, No Flies!, October 25, 2010

Had been using a plastic milk jug with handle and a larger hole cut out. I'd accumulate kitchen scraps and coffee grounds and take them to the mulch pile every few days. Eventually we began having issues with fruit flies. I tried a large plastic container with a snap on lid for a while but still had flies. And it had no handle.

This compost container has worked great. The filter works in keeping it odor free and no more fruit flies! It is easy to open with one hand and snaps shut easily. The composter holds quite a bit. I would recommend it.

We've had this composter for years and LOVE it. Have bought a few, all for different friends. An easy way to compost and I have hardly had to change the filters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kitchen Composter, June 6, 2010
This review is from: EarthCare Kitchen Composter Hinged Top Filtered
I absolutely love this composter. I put all my natural scraps in, keep it in the cabinet under the sink and there is no odor or bugs. When it gets full enough I add the contents to my larger compost bin outside. This was a very good investment.

I don't know how I got along without this wonderful item. I've been composting for years (not always a pleasant experience). This makes it so much easier and more pleasant to deal with.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works Well, May 18, 2010

I've had this particular pail for nearly three months. Not once have I smelled any odors from it. I haven't even replaced the original filter yet. I generally empty it once a week followed up with a good washing. I keep it sitting out most times. If I have company over it's quickly stored underneath the sink. Really happy overall with this product.
