Editorial Reviews

From Publishers Weekly

When a New Age book and crystal shopAcoincidentally called the Missing LinkAbecomes the vortex for a global spiritual awakening, one couple stands up for truth and saves humankind from its self-destructive tendencies. Although the plot sounds melodramatic, this visionary work harbors surprises. Like the evangelical novelist Frank Peretti, Simmons sees spiritual warfare everywhere, making for an exciting climactic conflict between good and evil. He does a fine job of explaining New Age thought, demonstrating how its various aspectsAcrystals, astrology, holotropic breathwork, aliens, I Ching, morphogenic fields, consciousness evolution, spirit guides and channeling among themAfit together. He also provides a compelling story, with the bad guys (dressed in black, naturally) seeking money and power, and the good characters fighting valiantly for spiritual truth. They help the world evolve to its next stage of consciousnessAwith the assistance of a few good aliensAbefore the planet destroys itself. Despite its tendency toward wordy preachiness, Simmons's novel is fun to read, and doesn't take itself overly seriously. Readers interested in visionary fiction or New Age thought should enjoy this one. (Aug.)

Review

Simmons' first foray into fiction comfortably mixes mystery and personal quest. There's a nice dose of levity (and diviniation, and Rupert Sheldrade's morphic fields, and Sedona, AZ and ...) as metaphysical shopkeeper Will Lerner and his wife, and a few good friends are drawn toward the Earthfire, trailed by some lessthatenlightened thugs. -- NAPRA ReVIEW- Matthew Gilbert

The author's visionthat the world is reaching a time of critical mass when our choices will determine whether we are reborn into highter awareness or destroyed by our own actions is a true one. Earthfire illumines our dilemma and leads us to the leap of liberation. Many readers will find this book to be a catalyst for their own awakening and inner growth. -- Dr. Jean Houston

5.0 out of 5 stars Earthfire: A Experential Tale of Transformation, March 1, 2000

First of all, I seldom read fiction. I read Earthfire only at the insistence and recommendation of a dear friend. I was told that I must read this book, it will change your life. So I read it. WOW. From the beginning, I was hooked! Will, Helen, Sebastian, and Maddie are now as real to me as you and I. As their story unfolds, their journey, their experience of the Earthfire within was masterfully written and was enough. Or so I thought. The message behind the words nagged at me. What was my Earthfire? What was my passion? Where is that mystical experience that will change my life? Is this just a great story or does it really exist? Then I experienced it. I lived it. I became it. On fire! I invite you to buy this book, buy it now! Let it sink into your soul and experience your own awakening. You'll be glad you did.
