Book Description

Earthlink:Impact is a short novella, at only approx 20,000 words, a quick read.

Sci fi, with a troubled teenager, aliens and spaceships.

What if they are up there, monitoring us, and the planet? What if the planet has grown, developed, become conscious in some way? What if just one person could hear that consciousness in pain? What if that one person had just crashed a stolen car after a night of drink and drugs?

Sage is eighteen years old and, ever since she can remember, there's been a voice in her head. She'll tell you that she doesn't hear voices, they don't tell her to do anything. It's just a single voice, and it doesn't speak, it screams. She hears an unending scream as if the voice is someone in constant agonising pain.

She's been told she's hallucinating. She's spent time in psychiatric care and on strong drugs that cut her off from her feelings, and she hates all of it.

But she's not hallucinating, the voice is all too real and Sage has been watched for years in the hope that she's not the only one who can hear. When Sage puts her life in danger, and it's clear that she is unique, intervention is necessary..

5.0 out of 5 stars Great characters, fast paced- loved it! January 28, 2012

Just wanted to say I bought this book while looking for something engaging and fast paced to read and I was not disappointed! I'm afraid of sci-fi books where either the characters are flat and boring but the story is imaginative, or the story is gripping but you don't care about the characters. I'm happy to say Sarah has combined the two exceedingly well and I can't wait to read more about Sage and find out what happens! This is not your predictable, ho-hum sci- fi story and I'm looking forward to reading more. Thanks for such a treat!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible Beginning February 20, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I had the pleasure of reading this pre-release and, like most of Ms. Barnard's work, she gripped me by the collar and pulled me through this fast paced, incredible story. This will be an incredible, undeniable presence in the science fiction community.

I'd tell you more about the book itself but... you really just need to read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Very Good Read November 19, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
This story is great for mom's who enjoy reading and have no time. It is well thought out and the writing is more mature then most of the books I have picked up. The concept is brilliant. There is a cliff hanger at the end that makes you beg for the next story. If you like anything science fiction this book will keep you in it's pages. I recommend it to anyone who is tired of books for women that are nothing but romance. A strong female cast with a balance of male characters. If you have a high school student, who need to learn about caring for the earth without a lecture,I believe this story may help with that too. It is a series I will be buying as soon as the next books are released.
