Error in this one!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Earthquakes & Volcanoes (Changing World) (Hardcover)
Overall, a great information-packed book with an excellent section on volcanic islands and evolution. However, there is an error on page 18 in the discussion about cooling magma. Granite is formed from magama that cools slowly. Basalt is extrusive and cools relatively quickly-- that accounts for the fine grains. The author has reversed these facts. I'd pull the book from my shelves if it was in my library.
