5.0 out of 5 stars Stop Freaking Out Over BPA
Okay. Im a very cautious parent, but the fact that there is BPA in the lids doesnt affect the food or the quality of it. BPA is an element in plastics that is excess estrogen and its recently become known that its not beneficial to let it enter our bodies. 1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY---HAS BPA IN LIDS!!
I absolutely LOVED EB food...as did my baby. That is, until I read that EB uses BPA in the sealing of their lids!!!! How in the world does a company who cares about organic, gluten free, kosher, and products free of being genetically modified think that it is okay to use BPA?!!? I called EB to verify this information and the lady admitted it. (But they are "looking...

Okay. Im a very cautious parent, but the fact that there is BPA in the lids doesnt affect the food or the quality of it. BPA is an element in plastics that is excess estrogen and its recently become known that its not beneficial to let it enter our bodies. However, BPA is only activated once its been heated and since you arent heating the metal lid, the BPA never enters the food. EB baby food is spectacular especially since its jar food vs frozen/fresh. There are lots of yummy flavors and your baby will probably like most of them. Both of my sons go crazy over the EB varieties and I stick by it- buying it by the case and using the amazon subscription option makes it soo much cheaper than retail! Again... dont freak out over BPA in the lids lol.

I found Earth's Best while shopping at Target and was thrilled to find USDA certified organic baby food. My son loves the apples and pears, the bananas are a little tart but I just add a little rice cereal and it's fine. I love that Amazon.com offers subscribe and save for Earth's Best and at a cheaper price than Target or Babies "R" Us. Great packing and fast delivery!

Love Earth's Best baby foods and this was great to start with a variety of foods. Only complaint is some of the fruits have Vit. C added as a perservative and makes a little on the tart side but I still prefer this over artificial preservatives and/or added sugars.
Ordering from Amazon.com is WAY cheaper per jar of food than our local stores. They were also great at quickly replacing some food that had been poorly packed and broke during shipment.
I still use this size jar of foods for traveling.

I try to make most of my son's baby food, but mainly stick with veggies. I wanted to get some good baby fruit choices and I've been really impressed with Earth's Best products. My little guy LOVES these fruits. This starter kit contains pears, apples and bananas. I love that I can get this organic variety pack delivered to my door for less than some regular baby food prices at the store. I love the subscribe and save option, because 15% is a nice discount with free Prime shipping through Amazon Mom. It's a great deal for quality food.

We opted for Earth's Best because it got high marks in terms of taste and no preservatives. Our son loves the food and it tastes as it should. We particularly like the fact that the variety packs are available.

Earth's Best Baby Food
My favorite brand of baby food by far. Both my son (who is now over 2 years old) and my daughter (now almost one) have used a wide variety of foods from Earth's Best. I am a huge proponent of feeding children primarily organic and/or locally grown foods to promote proper nutrition and growth. But I do not feel that all organic brands are equal. I've tried many varieties (including store brands and others only available through internet purchase) and found that Earth's Best is by far the best for your money.

1st Fruit Starter Kit
If you're like me trying to decide what flavor to give your baby the first time can be difficult. I had an idea because of going through this with my son, but my daughter (as it turns out) has completely different likes and dislikes. This variety comes with pears, bananas and apples. It's pretty basic and on a whole I think most babies like all of these, but you just never know. That's why I like it in this kit. You can try them out without having to hand pick and sort through a bunch at the store. It takes the guessing out of it. Yes, the price is a little high, but if you just need something to get you started it's great!

2.0 out of 5 stars Jar covers contain BPA ... So disappointing!, November 21, 2011
This review is from: Earth's Best Organic 1st Fruit Starter Kit, 2.5 Ounce Jars (Pack of 12) (Grocery)
As my baby approaches the stage at which we can introduce solids to her diet, I started doing my research on organic, prepared baby foods. I was all set to make Earth's Best my brand of choice, since we already use some of their other products (e.g., baby wipes). But that was until I discovered that the covers of their glass jars contain bisphenol-A (BPA), an endocrine disruptor that can cause negative health effects, especially in vulnerable infants and young children. Apparently, Earth's Best claims that its jarred baby food has been independently-tested, and found to have undetectable levels of BPA. However, I'm still skeptical. In a "perfect lab" setting with a pristine jar of baby food, the BPA may not have had the opportunity to leach from the cover into the baby food. But in the real world, by the time that jar of baby food reaches the average consumer, it has been turned upside-down and shaken up in the process of packing, shipping, unpacking, shelving, etc. Plus, many parents warm up their baby food in the jars; and I've heard that heating can increase/speed-up the BPA leaching process. SCARY STUFF!! I don't see why Earth's Best doesn't just play it safe and line their baby food jar covers with a resin that doesn't contain BPA. It's honestly not that hard to do ... Just ask Eden Organics! The linings of many of their canned vegetables are BPA-free. Sure, it might increase the cost of the baby food by a bit, but I'm sure I speak for many parents when I say that I'd be willing to pay a little extra just for the peace of mind of knowing that there are no harmful chemicals in my baby's food. After all, we're willing to spend a bit more for organic baby food to begin with.

Earth's Best also makes baby food in BPA-free pouches. But, to be honest, the company's refusal to acknowledge and correct the problem of BPA in its jar covers has left me with a bad taste in my mouth (pun intended). So I may just take my "baby-food-business" elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, August 19, 2011

This is standard price. Babies R US and my local Path-mark sells these jars for 59. Cent each with by 12 totals $7.08 and I paid $7.04 here on Amazon. However it was delivered right to my door, no Bus, No gas, in my PJ's and with a very demanding 5-month old that is how I am dressed these days. I love these over Gerber or Beech-Nut, because they are all natural, no preservatives or hormones. I believe all of the additives and chemicals in our food is the cause for a lot of illnesses that plague our society. Why give your child crap when you don't have to and it is the same price. It also taste good. The bananas are a bit tart, though, but Bella loves them. She also suffered from constipation off and on and now that she has fruit in her diet once a day, her still seems to be regulated.

I do not remember the price at Target but it is sold there too.

This will be her brand of baby food from now on.

We only feed our 6 month old organic food. We make some of our own, but this was too great a deal to pass up. Its great to have if we will be feeding her while we are out or in the morning when I am too tired to deal with blending and steaming. The food only has whats necessary for the baby, organic fruit, water for processing and vitamin c in the form of asorbic acid so the fruit doesn't brown. It tastes good and I feel confident feeding it to her.
