5.0 out of 5 stars The A&M era is off and running, August 21, 2006
This review is from: Earthshaker (Audio CD)
"Earthshaker" was Y&T's first album with A&M Records, and lives up to its name. Most of the tracks on the album will shake you off your foundations, and was only a precursor for what was to come.

Y&T usually starts their albums off right -- tearing things up -- and this started in the A&M era with "Hungry For Rock." Nothing more than good-old, down-and-dirty rock. "Dirty Girl" follows suit, though at a slower pace, and "Shake It Loose" and "Squeeze" rips it up again. "Rescue Me," a concert staple, finishes side one (if you own the LP or cassette).

"Young And Tough" opens the second side with another solid rocker, but the band takes off again with "Hurricane," showing off lead singer/lead guitarist Dave Meniketti's talents on both ends. "Let Me Go" and "Knock You Out" have a similarity to them, but both are solid tracks. Another concert favorite, "I Believe In You," with its ballad start and powerful finish, is a great way to end this intense metal journey.

I prefer "Black Tiger" overall to "Earthshaker," but you can't go wrong either way in my opinion. Very Highly Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars SHAKE IT LOOSE!, April 28, 2007

Baddstuff "music junkie" (astoria, ny United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Earthshaker (Audio CD)
why in the world this band wasn't bigger is something I will never understand. These guys totally rocked and Dave Meniketti proved to be a helluva guitar player. A&M could have done a heck of a lot more to give this band the push they deserved. Let me tell you, if I had a record label and was lucky enough to have these guys on my roster you can bet I'd be letting the world know they need to be listening to these guys. With so many lesser and undeserving bands getting all the hype these guys never got their just due. By all means get this CD and check out their catalog.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this album, August 3, 2005
This review is from: Earthshaker (Audio CD)
I've always liked the first track on this album - Hungry For Rock. It is simple, but great. It's also hard to get your hands on if you live in England, not featuring on any of the Y&T compilations, and only available on import. So, I recently cracked and ordered it, despite the cost. When my CD arrived from Amazon I spent all day listening to it on repeat. I love it.
