Simple fix for wheels that fall off, August 13, 2011
This review is from: Earthwise 60214 14-Inch 24 Volt Side Discharge/Mulching Cordless Electric Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio)
I bought this mower to use as a trimmer It is very well made, handles very well & a good buy. EXCEPT !!!!! During my first usage the left front wheel fell off. I put it back on as tight as possible & started to mow again. The right front wheel fell off Same routine! The factory fastening method is faulty. I went to the hardware store & bought 4 bent lock washers. { very cheap }. Put the factory washer on the wheel fastening screw, then the bent lock washer & tighten it up. End of problem. I trimmed the rest of the yard {many many bushes & trees} with no further problems, & all 3 LED lights are still green - indicating the battery is still fully charged!!

Fantastic except that the wheels fall off, May 8, 2011
This review is from: Earthwise 60214 14-Inch 24 Volt Side Discharge/Mulching Cordless Electric Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio)
I have used this mower once, for less than an hour. Part of that time was spent looking for a replacement bolt and washer after a front wheel fell off--it's Sunday and the hardware store is closed. Now I'm again looking for a bolt and washer, for a rear wheel this time. (On Mother's Day, all I ask is to be able get the lawn mowed before it rains!) This review would have been enthusiastic instead of frustrated if it weren't for this problem. Except for the wheels, the mower seems sturdy so far. Other unexpected downsides are that the charger can't be plugged in too long--I solved this one by attaching a timer that switches it off if I forget--and that it needs to be charged every thirty days all year round. Here, that means 6 months of charging it when not using it. I hope I'll remember to do that (including remembering to add it to my list of things to do before we go away in case the time is up while we're gone). Apparently the battery can be removed so it can be charged indoors (I haven't tried removing it yet.) Otherwise, the mower is pretty cute, easy to assemble, runs and cuts well, sounds like a mower but not excruciatingly so, not too heavy for a small woman to push around. I liked it--and I hate mowers in general--until it started dropping wheels and bolts all over the lawn. (The mower arrived with the wheels already on, I didn't put them on myself.) I tried again and ended up losing 3 bolts (2 original, one my replacement). With great reluctance, because I love it except for this fatal flaw, I'm returning it.

This Lawnmower is a Piece of Junk. I Lost $217!, September 26, 2011
This review is from: Earthwise 60214 14-Inch 24 Volt Side Discharge/Mulching Cordless Electric Lawn Mower (Lawn & Patio)
The instructions said to charge at first for 24 hours. After 24 hours of charging (battery feeling warm and red light on charging unit on) there was no power. A second 24-hour charged worked. Then I began to mow and it seemed wonderful--for 15 minutes. Then the front left wheel came off. I spent 20 minutes looking for the screw and the cap over the screw. A contractor who was working on my home put the screw back on, tightening it as much as possible (the washer had also been located and replaced) and the cap was replaced. After another 10 minutes of mowing, the back left wheel came off. I spent another 20 minutes looking for its screw and washer. The cap was never found. That screw and washer were screwed back on by the contractor. After 10 more minutes, the front left wheel came off again. Another 20 minutes was spent searching for the screw and washer again in the grass and they were, again, replaced. Ten minutes later, the back left wheel came off again. Its cap over the screw was also lost somewhere in the grass. The wheel was screwed back on again, but I fear to use the mower now. I cannot mow for 10 minutes, then spend 20 minutes hoping to find the screw, perhaps losing it for good in the grass, because both left wheels keep falling off. I had to pay to rent a gas-powered mower to mow the lawn. I only got 1/6 of my 1/4 acre lawn mowed with this mower and it took me almost 1 1/2 hours to do that--just a few feet--and I dare not use it again. It cost me $217 plus the cost of rening another mower to finish cutting the grass, and I had to wait until the next day for that mower. It's a good thing it didn't rain over night . I need to mow the lawn weekly. I already tried to contact Amazon about it but there was no way. I WANT MY MONEY BACK. YOU CAN HAVE THE PIECE OF JUNK MOWER BACK!!! D. P. N. DE LONG
