I ordered what I assumed was a battery pack for my battery powered cordless lawn mower. Based on the image shown, I expected this to be supplied in the battery enclosure. Instead, I received two large batteries which I had to insert in the existing battery enclosure of the lawnmower. This was not particularly difficult however. The price was approx $99 for batteries that can be obtained locally for about 30-50% of that cost. Before buying, I would suggest you open your battery enclosure and take one the two batteries to a local commercial battery store where you will save a lot of money.

I first got shipped the wrong product by the company that was advertising it the cheapest, however, it took many emails and weeks of waiting, but I finally got shipped the right battery. I was almost ready to replace the entire lawn mower, but it turns out that leaving the lawn mower plugged in weakens and decreases the battery life tremendously. The battery replacement was easy to install, and after a recharge, the lawn mower is operating like new once again. The cost of the battery is quite expensive, but who could blame Earthwise for taking advantage of a capitalistic society. They are the only ones that produce this battery and ensure you have to buy from them because they make some exotic plugs that are only made for this battery.

I've found that the Earthwise battery has enough power to mow my entire lawn (.35 acres) if my grass is under 3 1/2" long. I travel a lot though, and if I skip a weekend of mowing and it goes to 2 weeks I can finish my lawn in 2-3 chargings. I still think the mower and battery does a good job on my lawn, and in fact I think it looks better than my neighbors' lawns who all use gasoline mowers.

I also have to say that Amazon customer service is awesome. The first battery I received from them had a crack on the top of the battery. I tried to return it, but because of the chemicals involved it is illegal for Amazon to take back a defective battery. Instead....they just shipped me a new battery and I was able to recycle the damaged one myself. Amazon is the easiest company to deal with when it comes to returns.

Since this is the only battery I could find on the market for the Earthwise 24-volt mower, I ASSUMED it would be the correct one. Well you know what they say about 'assuming' anything! The battery as supplied would not fit 'as is' in my mower, nor would it connect..different models I discovered. Fortunately, I had read a comment on some board somewhere about having to put two batteries into a plastic housing in order to use the product, so I took the housing of THIS NEW battery apart and ...EUREKA!...I discovered two batteries and two connectors. Without the housing they fit perfectly, connected wonderfully and work beautifully. So the lesson is: this battery will work on the older models if you first remove the outer casing.

Get 2 SLA1116 12v 18Amp batteries, I went to Action Battery.

Take a pic of how it's wired up after you remove the 8 casing screws.

Wire the 2 new batteries the same way.

Voila!

Do not pay more than $100 for the 2 batteries.

If you don't know how to do this just take the pack to the pro's at Action Battery
(if you can't find them look on google for AC/Delco sales near you). They will
also re-cycle the old batteries for you.

The battery has packed adequate power for the job. The battery is fairly heavy; definately not something to be used by many seniors. The battery has a useful handle to insert and remove the battery from the mower, but the cable hookup requires a bit of finesse while holding a fairly heavy battery. The release button can become clogged with dust/debris which can cause some work in getting the battery out. By the instructions sent with the battery it is a higher maintenance battery, requiring monthly charges all winter long; this battery can't be left on the charger all winter, unless you buy a fairly high end battery tender. Overall the battery and the mower were mostly a dissapointment. I'll continue to use them through the normal life of the items, but intend to change to something different as sooner than later.

I am so glad I purchased this battery. It is expensive, but sure makes the mower last longer and run better.

I was a little leary after reading reading some of the other reviews about having to dissassemble to make this work. Without another good option, I gave it a shot anyway. Changing out the old battery for this new one could not have been easier ... I pulled the old one out and unplugged it. This new one plugged in and dropped right into place - perfect fit.

This unit is meant to be used with a newer model and can be retrofitted into my specific model by removing the cells from the casing. Seems like a waste and it would be nice if they just sold the batteries without the casing.

This item is considered hazard. Amazon can send it to you, but you cannot send it back to them. Seems like a double standard here. On the page where the battery is described, you read all the information about the battery and then there was this big ad to receive 20% off on various products. This is where I stopped reading. Underneath this as is where it is written, "This item cannot be returned". They did offer me a 10% off coupon and said I could advertise the battery on Amazon for sale. I don't understand how Amazon can ship hazard materials to me, and I can ship them to anyone except Amazon. I know this was my fault for ordering the wrong battery but I buy a lot of stuff through Amazon, guess I might have to slow down a bit.
