Great except...,

These bags are a great deal except for the fact that after only a few uses the insulated bag's zipper malfunctioned. It was quite simple to fix, but watch out if you tend to zip bags quickly. If you dismiss the zipper issue the bags are sturdy and worth while. The bags are easy to bring to the store because they are collapsable and light. They are also well designed for carrying when filled with groceries. Over all I'd give these bags a B-.

Great Starter Pack,

When looking for bags, especially for groceries, having the "bottom" piece is vital, otherwise everything just gets squished or falls out; these bags have the bottom. But they fold weird (from the factory) and that piece has to be reset by every bagger. I acutally had one guy so bewildered he almost threw it out. The little loops, mean to support the bag in the stand, we ripped off immediately by baggers/checkers who caught them on the stand.
But for overall value, this is a great way to go. The insulating bags are wonderful; so are the "bottle bags" although, if you buy more than one set of bags, this particular bag becomes overly redundant. I would buy again!

Based on the positive reviews, I'm beginning to think I received a different set although what I received matches the pictures and description. I got these for approximately 1.25 ea. on a Friday sale. The best bag is the thinly insulated zippered bag. Please note the 5 grocery bags are rather small, as it would hold a 5 # bag of oranges. There is no way it holds double the amount of a regular plastic bag and definitely not the amount a brown paper bag could hold. As for the wine bag, I would not put 6 bottles in it for fear of the bag not being able to hold that much weight. They are made of cloth-like material and have a piece of thin cardboard for the bottom support. I do not expect them to be very durable, but time will tell. I'm being generous w/ a 3 star rating as if I'd seen them in a store for the same price I would have passed on purchasing them. I purchased a huge (think extra large pizza box or large beach bag) very well made zippered thick insulated bag for ten dollars that I keep in my car to transport frozen foods in when I shop at the warehouse stores.

After I used them a few times I had to come back and order 2 additional sets, one for me and one as a gift. They are made well, the handles are not going to come loose. They will hold all your groceries, even those canned goods. There is a bag that is made for tall jars of food or drink. There is an insulated bag for your frozen foods, it even zips shut to keep things cold. One bag holds two to four times as much as those plastic throw-away bags do, and they are structured so they sit in your trunk without spilling everything. After you unload they fold and all fit into one bag - they just go right into the trunk for their next use. I have even packed things in them and loaded up our RV, they fit right into the cabinets and keep everything organized. Just about every time I use them at the grocery someone comments on them and wants to know where they came from.

I bought this collection almost entirely foe the wine tote as I was so guilty for the number of paper and plastic bags involved in the average purchase. This has worked out very well, and the other bags are handy for the grocery store. The bags are a little small, but if you don't over pack are sufficient.

These are great! Durable, they tote groceries perfectly and can be used for all kinds of carrying. I use them to get mail and packages, for other kinds of shopping, out at Farmer's markets and swap meets, buying used books, at warehouse grocery stores and to pack goodies when heading over to friends for parties or BBQs. The large insulated bag is great for frozen or chilled items that need to remain so when it's 103 degrees in the AZ summer sun and you need to travel. I keep them in my truck so I won't forget to bring them in with me when I go grocery shopping or to the corner store. Highly recommended!

I looked all over for a reinforced strap, box bottom, solid color tote with no logos or writing on the bags and I found this set. I wanted a tote so I could carry my purse, files from work, my umbrella, and whatever odds and ends. This bag does it all. I would have given 5 stars but the depth, although great for carrying groceries, was just a bit deeper than I wanted. I wanted the height of the bag to be 2 inches lower but...it works fine. Having an extra 4 bags and an insulated bag too was just a bonus. I don't use the wine bottle bag.

I liked these bags especially the length of the handle, because I can carry them on my shoulder. Pretty durable too.

These bags are very flimsy. If I double them up they seem to hold the food items better and less strain on the handles, which rip easily. The bottom piece is not sewn in, which only adds to the not great construction of these bags. The best item was the refrigerator bag, which is well made and keeps the food cold.

I rated these bags based on the price that I paid for them, which was just over a buck apiece. I would be less pleased if I had paid full price for them.
On two of the bags, the little loop was already loose when I received them. Manufacturer quality control doesn't look to be too thorough. The fabric is lightweight but sturdy, and the handles are attached well. I have encountered no problems with grocery baggers not understanding how to set them up - it just might be that baggers are getting more accustomed to shoppers bringing their own bags. No way do the grocery bags hold three times more than a plastic bag. Maybe the manufacturer got that figure from calculating relative volume in cubic inches of space, but it's not a realistic figure. If you filled the bag up to the rim, it would either spill on the way home, or be too heavy to easily manage. I was hoping that the beverage bag would hold half gallons of milk, but neither the plastic or cardboard variety of milk containers will fit in the spaces. The fit was close - just a tiny bit more space would have allowed half gallon milk jugs to easily fit. (This is something that I wish manufacturers would think about. A milk carrier would be a great item to have.) One of the other reviewers stated some doubt about the beverage carrier being sturdy enough to hold six glass bottles - I have a tendency to agree with that thought. Only time will tell how these bags hold up over the long run. |
