I haven't had great luck with non-oem cartridges. This has been an exception. It has been in the printer for more than a month, and the print quality is equivalent to the HP cartridge that was in before. I can't comment on the operation of the "chip" because when I installed my new HP Officejet Pro that I use for color prints, the software deleted the software for the HP LaserJet. I guess HP assumes only one printer at a time. Nothing I blame on the Earthwise Toner Cartridge. I will buy another.
