5.0 out of 5 stars WE LOVE THESE SONGS, December 8, 2001

Okay - I admit that I thought the songs were obnoxious the first time I heard them. But my kids kept wanting to hear them over and over and now we ALL love them. What a super way to teach young kids some aspects of earth science that are not usually found in songs. In fact, on a trip to a national park in Washington state we were all singing "Banana slug" and then we actually saw one! Our schools could only wish they could make science so engaging!

4.0 out of 5 stars at least 3 good songs, January 16, 2001

She does very good performances of "Kookaburra lives in the old country" and "Inch by inch, row by row". My 2-year old has memorized Kookaburra. "It's a very good day for ..." is also good. I haven't heard Kookaburra recorded anywhere else. Peter Paul & Mary did Inch by Inch too, but I like this rendition better than PP&M's. The other songs we mostly skip over, but 3 good songs is pretty good for any CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adorable, fun songs that make my kids think!, August 23, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Earthy Tunes (Audio CD)
My kids (2 and 5) and I LOVE this CD! The songs are all silly and funny, yet are very educational. Mary has such a beautiful melodic voice and her goofy lyrics funny sound effects always make my kids laugh. The songs are thought provoking like "Dirt You Made My Lunch" -- about thanking the soil for all the things that go into a sandwhich that she is about to eat. Gets kids thinking. This is a wonderful, educational and welcomed alternative to other innane, annoying or patronizingly simple music I've previously purchased for my kids (i.e., Gymboree, Disney Soundtrack, etc.).

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Memories, May 12, 2009
This review is from: Earthy Tunes (Audio CD)
When my children were small we purchased this while travelling through Oregon on a camping trip. My daughter was singing one of the songs to her little 2 yr old and then I remembered what a great tape it was back then...She didn't quite have the words right so I've ordered it now for her two children and I can't wait to hear them again and reminisce. From Canada!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good stuff!, February 17, 2009

My sister and I grew up with this music which our dad would play on road trips and I remember loving it as a kid. It's fun and has a little educational value and it's very singable, but it's not annoying like some kids music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Planning for the Future, May 16, 2008
This review is from: Earthy Tunes (Audio CD)
I am ordering this for my grandchildren and I don't have any! We purchased the tape over ten years ago, while vacationing in California, and our children took an immediate liking to it. I like the focus on nature and the value of each part of nature, from trees to dirt. The songs are delightful and fun. Because the tape won't last much longer, I'm purchasing the CD to store for the future; that's how much I value "Earthy Tunes". Our oldest is only 20 but I'm planning for the future, hoping our children will impart the values reflected in this CD to their children and hoping that listening to this will bring back fond memories for them of our special time in Northern California.

5.0 out of 5 stars My kids and I love this tape., January 14, 2000
This review is from: Earthy Tunes (Audio CD)
This music is such a refreshing change from alot of the annoying, repetitive songs out there for kids. I love that it gives them topics to think about and it has been the catalyst for many educational converstions I've had with my kids.
