5.0 out of 5 stars The ease of listening to "The Ease of Being" CD
With all the wordly pressures of living here in the 21st century Mary Maddux's CD "The ease of being" is a "Must have". The calming music and Mary's kind and compassionate voice take you to a place where there is true peace, security, and total contentment.

1.0 out of 5 stars awful and annoying
[...] This is just awful - the script is nonsensical, annoying, and repetitive and while it asks you to focus on various things, it is impossible to do so, because she never stops talking for more than half a second, continually repeating inane platitudes. In the first "meditation", she tells you that thoughts and feelings will probably come up for you and that you can...

With all the wordly pressures of living here in the 21st century Mary Maddux's CD "The ease of being" is a "Must have". The calming music and Mary's kind and compassionate voice take you to a place where there is true peace, security, and total contentment.

Track 1: "A centering meditation" is just wonderful for bringing oneself into a focused state, where you can concentrate/meditate on any chosen subject, or embark on a journey into the far off reaches of your mind.

Track 2: "A healing meditation" is just that, this works just fine for mental & physical healing (I had a "Thumper" of a headache that just refused to vanish, but it went after I listened to this track) it helps you to look at the problem in hand and, as is most often the case, once you look at problems they're put into perspective and they either shrink to a size where you can acknowledge and work with them, or they disappear completely.

Track 3: "Flowing freely: An emotional healing meditation" works great when one has been emotionally battered and bruised, it recharges one's "Batteries" and and makes one emotionally whole once again, ready to take on those difficult and rough people/situations (that can leave you all too drained) with renewed vigor and enthusiasm.

All in all a 10 out of 10, or in this case a true 5 star recommendation, this is such a down to earth CD, and one that you'll surely not regret buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Really great CD! Anxiety / insomnia GREATLY IMPROVED!, March 8, 2005
This review is from: The Ease of Being: Guided Meditations for Centering and Healing (Audio CD)
I can't begin to say how much peace and relaxation I've gotten from this CD. The voice of Mary Maddux is very smooth and soothing, while the music composed for the background lulls you into a feeling of peace. I have a severe anxiety disorder that requires medications daily, many types of these have not helped me much at all. This CD really helps me to slow down and relax, especially after a difficult day. This CD is easily as effective as some anxiety medications I've tried , and I'm so glad I found it. I hope others give it a try. It's truly a gift to oneself, that you can afford to give yourself each and every day. As far as "sound quality" Ive had NO PROBLEMS< I listen to mine on a 5 speaker surround sound and its wonderful, EVERY TIME. Perhaps a poor quality of stereo is creating some kind of interference? This is a must have for anyone who has to relax, and finds it incredibly difficult.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent meditations for anyone, April 18, 2006

This review is from: The Ease of Being: Guided Meditations for Centering and Healing (Audio CD)
This CD has three excellent meditations for anyone looking to relax and take a load off. It was the first that I bought and I must say that I lucked out.

I have referred several friends and clients (I am a social worker) to buy this CD and they all love it. It calms you down very easily and you are able to relax and clear your mind completely.

At first Mary's voice pattern is a bit odd and distracting. This is because she pauses in a non-traditional way. I can only assume that she is using a rhythmic way of speaking that will help to bring relaxation. It works!

5.0 out of 5 stars Caregiver Respite, July 21, 2004
This review is from: The Ease of Being: Guided Meditations for Centering and Healing (Audio CD)
My mother has Alzheimers Disease. These meditations have become a respite tool for my Self and in turn for her.

I listen before I get out of bed. They seem to clear me for the day.

The "Healing Meditation" at night has helped me release the stress and concerns of the day. Like a house cleaning of my mind, body and emotions. I sometimes fall asleep listening and I am sure my sleep is more restful and renewing.

"Flowing Freely" helps me focus on particular issues, the guided words give me direction to process my feelings and thoughts in a useful, positive way: accepting my emotions and releasing guilt and blame.

This CD is truly an asset to me directly and allows me to lighten my load, clear my mind and look forward with more hope and support. Thank you Mary and Richard.

5.0 out of 5 stars relaxing and healing meditations, April 30, 2005

I have tried many guided meditation tapes over the years and this is definitely one of the best. This is a very relaxing CD that is a great resource for dealing with stress and pain. It begins with a centering meditation, continues with a healing process, and then ends with emotional healing. The instructions say to listen to these meditations one at a time, but I find it works well to continue on through the entire 3 meditations as each seems to build upon the last with the result that one is deeply relaxed. In fact, I often fall asleep before the end and the sleep is very refreshing! I can't say enough about how well this CD works to make me feel better in mind and body, less negative and more upbeat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Relief from Stress, November 15, 2005
This review is from: The Ease of Being: Guided Meditations for Centering and Healing (Audio CD)
I had never tried a guided meditation CD before. After reading many reviews on different ones, I listened to the free download for the Ease of Being and thought it sounded very relaxing, so I ordered it. It has become one of my favorite CDs for evening de-compression from my stressful workday routine. The words and music seem to float me off to a peaceful place.

I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for an antidote to stress and tension.

I am impressed with how much "ease" and relaxation I've received from this CD. The voice of Mary Maddux is very smooth and calming, while the music composed for the background creates a beautiful feeling of peace. This CD really helps me to slow down and relax, especially after a difficult day. You can select which meditation to listen to depending on your state of mind. Each one touches your heart with the soft speaking voice making you feel so safe and secure. A good choice for anyone who needs help with stress.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful & Healing, January 4, 2006
This review is from: The Ease of Being: Guided Meditations for Centering and Healing (Audio CD)
I am a big fan of Mary's CDs. But this one is probably my favorite.
There is something about the gentle, soft quality of the music and the spoken words that allow me to deeply relax and forget all the problems of the day. Check out the free download to hear what I'm talking about. I recommend this for an easy way to feel better and reset to a peaceful state.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Gem, November 6, 2005

In this crazy and pressurized world, we all could use some of the great relaxation provided by The Ease of Being. This is a great audio resource for getting back to a more restful, balanced place after a bad day at work, or just overload, as in my case with two jobs and more. The Maddux's CDs are all such wonderful balms for the soul. The music is soft and ethereal, not rhythmic or intrusive. The narration is simple and easy to follow and very, very comforting. This is not guided imagery but just gentle reminders to stop trying so hard. Each of the 3 Tracks is different and effective in its own way, my favorite is the Healing Meditation.

I highly recommend the Ease of Being as well as these other great CDs:

The Soul of Healing Meditations by Deepak Chopra
Your Present by Susie Mantell
Guided Meditations for Developing Calmness, Awareness, and Love by Bodhipaksa

All of these will help to get through the hard times.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful, November 12, 2005
This review is from: The Ease of Being: Guided Meditations for Centering and Healing (Audio CD)
This has been a great help during a time of increased psychological burden. My elderly parent is a cancer patient with some dementia and this CD has provided me some needed relief and "centering" on days when things get rough. Sometimes I play it for my Dad and he seems to settle down and become less agitated. I'm not sure why this works so well but it does.
