I am a piano teacher and very much like using these books for my students. Don't let the book name fool you, though. The first book is easy but they do get harder and I only have 3 students out of 17 that are up to the 4th book's level. I think by "Easiest Piano Course" they must mean 'easy way to learn', not easy songs to play.

These books are colorful and interesting for the beginning student, probably aged six to ten. Some students need a variety of books to keep up their interest, so I've tried most all of the ones available. This set is complete, reasonably priced and may be all you need. Let your student be your guide!

I just bought a keyboard and purchased this tutorial for the piano to get me started. It consists of four thin books (38 pages each) and four CD's that contain the midi and audio files for each lesson. I started reading music and playing simple songs like, "Mary Had a Little Lamb" after about two hours of study. PRO'S: Excellent lessons for children and adults who want to read sheet music and start playing the piano, nice packaging to keep all the materials together, short but meaningful lessons to break it all down for the beginner. CON'S: Silly cartoons clog up the lessons (but kids will love it), CD's are rather useless - 12 year old audio technology is very out-dated and the audios/midi's sound horrible (I don't even use them). So if you're looking for a very easy-to-use tutorial for the piano, I recommend this - especially for children. If you already have some musical theory and piano-playing ability, then you should pass on this one as it is truly for the absolute beginner who knows nothing about reading music or playing the piano.

I have been wanting to take piano lessons forever. Unfortunately, I don't have the time or money to commute to weekly lessons right now. This is an awesome program that help lay the foundation for my piano playing. Although I am definately no Beethoven I can read the notes and play with some proficiency. The lessons are graduated and move from beginner to advanced learning.

I have used the John Thompson piano courses for years. For the beginning grades, ages 8-9, these books are good. They teach a gradual progression, with teacher accompaniment to hold interest while learning middle C, then the note higher and the note lower. In addition they have work sheets periodically to provide the student with homework to reinforce the course as a discipline while teaching theory. I recommend them.

My piano students were so pleased to have a neatly packaged set of piano books and I am happy about the CDs that enable them practise on their own and still enjoy it.
