5.0 out of 5 stars Great starter
I have tried many starters and this one is my favorite by far! It makes a quart of nice thick Greek-style yogurt with less fat than the regular version of this starter. My batches are very tart at first but once left in the fridge overnight, they mellow out and have a good taste. I can easily eat this plain.

1.0 out of 5 stars cheaper elsewhere
All varieties of Easiyo that I've tried are wonderful. However, Amazon tripled their price last year. Go to the easiyo site to find other US providers.

I don't have the Easiyo maker, I actually have the Yogourmet. I just mix this packet with a quart of cold water, add water to the first fill line in the chamber, and incubate for about 8 hours. It works great and I don't have to buy milk and fool with heating then cooling it in the water bath, or add extra powdered milk or gelatin (gross) to get a good thick yogurt. This comes out thick already, every time.

A quart of Fage is $8 at local stores, I think this tastes even better and it's half the price.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this yoghurt, September 18, 2010
This review is from: Easiyo Low Fat Greek Yogurt Base and Culture, 6-Ounce (Kitchen)
There are several things besides the taste, which is amazing, that I like about easiyo yoghurt. It is convenient, I can buy a quantity without worrying about spoilage (of course it doesn't last forever and one has to watch the european date codes on the package), it is easy to make and it tastes fresh. I also like the fact that it is made from the milk of NZ cows as they are reknowned for their flavor and freshness.
The greek is my favorite by far as it is thick, creamy and clean tasting but I also like many of the flavored varieties. I have bought both the full fat and low fat types.
I just wish the price would go back to normal on Amazon AND that the full variety was available.
One small tip, if the yoghurt doesn't set within the 8 hrs stated, I always check the water to see if it has cooled, 9 times out of 10 I find it has. I than empty it out and refill the 'maker' with hot water from the tap. I place the container back in the maker, and within an hour or 2 it is definitely set. Of course, one can always wait overnight for it to set as well.

We like 3 greek god's greek yogurt.
I bought the whole system and it made yogurt ok if you use their mixes. We did not like the taste and the price was expencive for the yogurt mixes. I tried making my own yogurt using the regular way and it did not set up so I think if you are going to use all the easyyo products you would be ok, if you want the expence.

4.0 out of 5 stars What happened to a package of powder for $4.75???, January 12, 2011
This review is from: Easiyo Low Fat Greek Yogurt Base and Culture, 6-Ounce (Kitchen)
I love this yoghurt and the ease of making it. However, when I bought the packages of powder, each one was $4.75. Now I have the Easiyo incubator and the yoghurt is now $15. a quart? No Way!!!

this was my first adventure into homemade yogurt making & as I was researching & reviewing other product lines I was not sure I wanted to attempt it - but with this product it is so simple - and it tastes great - and they offer a wide variety of flavors - this low fat greek base is one of my favorites - actually I originally ordered it with the thought of making my own Tsaziki sauce (I think I might have mispelled that, sorry - it's the white sauce they serve w/fallafels - yum) anyways...I keep ordering this base & buying the cucumbers that go in the recipe but every time I make a batch of this greek yogurt I eat it before I can get around to making the sauce :-) oh well, one of these days I will succeed in making the recipe but until then I am enjoying this yogurt as is!

I love this yogurt. I am used to eating Fage low fat yogurt so the change in taste takes a bit of getting used to. To me, the taste is similar, perhaps this is slightly more sour or tart. But I put in a banana and sometimes a bit of agave sweetener. I know it isn't cheaper than buying the Fage brand but I enjoy having the home made version. It feels healthier although I am not sure if it actually is. I do think there are more live cultures in this brand (not sure of that either) and I need all I can get as I am lactose intolerant and the cultures really help in that regard.
