Book Description

Annalise Fallston made peace with postponing her big-city dreams to care for her ill father, but lately she's been filled with a restlessness not even her beloved painting dispels. Worse, the colors don't speak to her as they always have, and all her efforts produce dark, foreboding images of a dangerous man and a terrifying future.
Devlin Eston, black-souled son of the evil Anemoi Eurus, is the only one who can thwart his father's plan to overthrow the Supreme God of Wind and Storms. But first, Dev must master the unstable powers he's been given. Distrusted and shunned by his own divine family, he never expected to find kindness and passion in the arms of a mortal.
But Devlin's love puts Annalise in the path of a catastrophic storm, and in the final Armageddon showdown between the Anemoi and Eurus, sacrifices will be made, hearts broken, and lives changed forever...or lost.

"East of Ecstasy is hands down Laura Kaye's best work to date and a ride so intense and shocking it will have you sobbing over your e-reader. This story is the epitome of great, entertaining storytelling. What makes EoE such a satisfying conclusion to an already stellar series is the care and patience that went into crafting and placing the pieces of the overall story. It wraps up so beautifully! Paranormal may not be my typical go-to genre of choice, but after reading multiple Contemporary Romance books by Laura Kaye, she became one of my favorite authors, which is why I originally picked up her Hearts of the Anemoi series. With each book in the series, I became more invested in the fictional world of the Anemoi, captivated by the romantic combinations of each Anemoi and their respective love interests as well as the suspenseful overarching narrative that continues throughout the series. Laura Kaye has a gift for creating particularly lovable fictional heroes, but I have a special place in my heart for the Anemoi guys because she gives these seemingly flawless gods human qualities so that, despite their apparent outer perfection, they are revealed to have their own vulnerabilities and insecurities. The reasons I’ve already mentioned among many others make the fourth book in the Hearts of the Anemoi series, East of Ecstasy, my favorite of the bunch.

For some strange reason, I feel as though I'm betraying Owen, Zeph and Chrys, but I have to confess that Devlin Eston is my favorite Anemoi of the four, not just because of his dark and brooding sex appeal, but because his character maintained a sense of goodness despite his heartbreaking and utterly devastating backstory. Devlin is a tortured and damaged hero whose horrific past has made him accustomed to pain and suffering rather than love and affection. He also happens to be a ticking time bomb, supernaturally enhanced to give him in an advantage in the battle that finally comes to a head in this book. It’s in the midst of this chaos that Devlin meets Annalise Fallston, who unwittingly becomes entrenched in the apocalyptic skirmish between the gods.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved everything about this book! April 22, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
“Devlin had an anger management problem of divine proportions. Literally. When he got mad, things caught on fire, blew up, or got fried by electricity.”

I am such a sucker for a damaged bad boy, and there is no one who has been more damaged than Devlin Eston. He has spent his life being abused by his father, and his scars envelop him physically and emotionally. And even though he is now dedicated to stopping his father before he can destroy the world, the rest of the Anemoi still do not trust him, feeling he carries the sins of his father.

Annalise Fallston has returned home to care for her ill father. She has always sought refuge in her paintings, but lately she has been plagued by visions of dark images that she has been compelled to paint. When fate lands Devlin in the farmhouse that Annalise uses as her studio and he recognizes himself in the pictures that Annalise has been painting, Annalise and Devlin find themselves in a race against time to stop Devlin’s father Euros from destroying the world.

I just loved Annalise and Devlin together. She was definitely the light to Devlin’s dark and was just so perfect for him. Her kindness and caring slowly began to break down the walls that Devlin had built, and it was so heartwarming to see her help Devlin realize and accept the goodness in himself. I loved watching Devlin become more self-confident as a result of his relationship with Annalise, and it was great watching them draw strength from each other as they faced confrontations, danger and heartbreak. Watching Devlin struggle through his feelings for Annalise and accepting the fact that he was worthy of her love just made me fall in love with him a little more, and his protective nature and gentleness toward her were just**sigh**.

5.0 out of 5 stars ANOTHER FANTASTIC LAURA KAYE NOVEL! April 30, 2014
Another fantastic Laura Kaye novel! This is the conclusion to the Anemoi Wind novels, and brings together the entire cast of characters for a final showdown between Devlin’s evil and destructive father Eurus, god of the East Wind, and the rest of the Anemoi deities. Having recently been the subject of a divine experiment meant to gift him with the power to defeat his father, Devlin Eston is literally a breath away from creating a super-cell storm capable of wiping out an entire portion of the east coast. So far unable to control his temper and the resultant power, he struggles to find something that gives him enough peace to calm the raging turbulent inside him.

That something turns out to be Annalise Fallston. Petite, but fiery, she holds the key to his composure. Mostly colorblind since birth, she seeks solace in the one thing that allows her to see the beauty of the world. Her painting. For some reason, she can see color only when allowing her mind to delve into her art, and can actually manipulate the depth and light in her masterpieces, simply through thought and touch. She's also been having disturbing visions of The Dark Man that make Devlin think she may be more than meets the eye.

Brought together by fate, kept together by circumstance.; they are fundamental to each other’s happiness and future. This story was so fantastical and so full of imagery and natural beauty, that I was absorbed into it. Although, this is the only Anemoi novel I have read, I went straight through it in one sitting and almost ordered the first 3 as soon as I finished, just to stay with these characters a bit longer. Definitely a must read series if you like fantasy/paranormal authors. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and I can’t wait to search out more of her books! Received for an honest review.
