Against the Odds,

East Side Dreams is an inspiring story of a troubled youth, trapped in a gang environment, who beat the odds and became a success not only in business, but in life. It is a similar situation millions of our youth face today because of the growing gang population and kids wanting to be needed. Prisons and cemetaries today are filled with our youth because they made the wrong decision, all for the sake of wanting to belong. East Side Dreams should be mandatory reading in all schools for kids of an impressionable age. It teaches that no matter how bad the situation, (Art Rodriguez went to prison as a teenager for murder), you can still beat the odds. It teaches that with courage, perseverance and hard work, you can be whatever you want to be and do whatever you want to do. Art Rodriguez shows us that it doesn't matter what you did in the past, it's what you do today and in the future that really counts. Congratulations Mr. Rodriguez, and thank you.
