The Best Easter Egg Hunt Ever (Read With Me Paperbacks),
By
This review is from: The Best Easter Egg Hunt Ever (Read with Me Cartwheel Books (Scholastic Paperback)) (Paperback)
ISBN 0590956248 - Printed in the U.S.A. Age range not stated. Staple-bound paperback, 32 pages. Published Scholastic Inc. in 1997. By John Spiers.
A group of children are searching for Easter eggs and other Easter items; the reader is invited to join them. Each two-page spread features an illustration of great, colorful, detail in which the reader will find hidden objects. In a small inset box are images of the items to be found on each set of pages. The answers are on the last few pages, with the "winner" (he who found the most) on the very last page. The illustrations are very, very, very busy. This makes the finding a challenge, which can be a good (or bad) thing, depending on your kid and his/her attention span. Because the reader is challenged to compete with the children in the book to find the most Easter treasures, there's a bit of adding involved - a sneaky way to get math in front of them! The only negative I'd mention is that each page tells the reader how many items each child in the story found. This means the "challenge" is pre-determined - and your kid is not the winner. That struck me as unnecessary. Oh, and "yay! for no religion in this Easter book!" - AnnaLovesBooks

I got several of these to put in Easter baskets for my youngest (3) and her young cousins. It is really fun, and a bit challenging. Enough so that my 7year old likes to look through it and find all the items too! Great price too!
