K-Gr 3-Many of the projects in these sometimes simplistic and slightly ambiguous titles ask readers to copy a pattern, cut it out, and color it. The generic black-line drawings highlighted in yellow (Easter) and red (Valentine) lack grace or charm. In Easter, bunnies abound; most have rounded shapes, but one rat-faced rabbit appears. ``Oliver the Baby Dragon'' is a questionable addition. In Valentine, there are hearts galore, and also rebuses, games, and a key for writing secret codes. Both books include some easy recipes. Phyllis and Noel Fiarotta's Cups & Cans & Paper Plate Fans (1993) and Teddy Cameron Long's Fantastic Paper Holiday Decorations (1994, both Sterling) include holiday crafts that rely less on tracing and copying.-Carole B.
