Book Description

October 1, 2001
In the not too distant future, Humans are facing a harsh reality: the planet is running out of space to support the ever-growing population. With nowhere to turn, Humans must venture into space in an effort to solve their predicament. As part of a colonization effort, NASA sends a number of men to Mars. The candidates selected were without any connection to the planet. They were offered fame, fortune and a place in history. What they found was that while on the planet their roles were reduced to slave labor. Far from home without witnesses to protest the violation of civil rights, a resistance effort forms. We meet our hero as a broken man. While working in the field our hero stumbles across a stone like substance. Eager to share his discovery he runs to show it to a fellow worker. Unable to communicate in the field they decided to meet at a later time at our hero's abode. The rendezvous is a reunification of old friends as our hero is re-introduced to an old buddy from training camp. The reunification is also an eye opener where our hero learns of the resistance forming to fight against the oppression they experience. Feeling ashamed for his inactivity, our hero agrees to participate and become more active in fighting for change. Easter Island is a story of self-affirmation. The novella is filled with murder, intrigue and war. It is designed to and acts as an etiological perspective of the origins of human existence and a warning against the abuse of the planet Earth.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun but not enough., August 22, 2002

Easter Island was a lot of fun. It was a quick and easy read. It moved fast and I really got into the main character. It was a different twist on a popular subject. I think it was a little short though and it could've been longer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Powerful, August 21, 2002
By
SAB (Vancouver BC Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Easter Island (Paperback)
I really liked it! The book was divided into two parts. The first part was realy powerful as the main character came into his own. The second half seemed a little rushed. The book could have been longer. I usually don't like science fiction, but I really liked Easter Island. I bought it for my students as a casual read for in class reading, and the students loved it too.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised, August 21, 2002
This review is from: Easter Island (Paperback)
I purchased this book becuase it was listed as a rare and unique find on a book search engine. After I received the book a was pleasantly surprised. I read the book in one night and after I finished it I wanted more. My complaints: Typos in the text and cover and the story has been done. Authors need to find new material.
