This is a great book for Lenten study - the selections are easy to keep up on each day of Lent. Every day has a reading from St. Clare or St. Francis on a particular topic relating to Lent, a reading from the Bible on that subject and then my favorite part, a practical way to take what you just read out into daily life. The Lenten action item suggests a particular thought to carry with you, something to try to do that day or something to look at in a certain way. I found myself thinking off and on about the action item throughout the day and looking for ways to apply it. So many times, what is read is forgotten as soon as the book is closed, but this book takes your reading into daily life. I give this book a high recommendation.

This is a refreshing Lenten devotional in that it is not the run of the mill type I have seen available for so many years. I think it is the direct tie to St. Francis' and St. Clare's teachings. Franciscan spirituality is my favorite and I am very comfortable with St. Francis' look toward all of God's creatures.

I purchased this book half-way through Lent.... sure wish I had found it sooner. This is a WONDERFUL book. Great prayers and passages taken directly from St. Francis and St. Clare's writings. There are passages for each of the 40+ days of Lent, plus the Easter Week following.

I really enjoyed reading this, and will bring it out again for Lent next year. Heck, I may read it later this fall just because it is so spiritual and inspirational.

Highly recommended for every Catholic!

We purchased four copies of this book as gifts for friends. They are all looking forward to using the book during the upcoming Lenten season. We had previously purchased a copy and used it during this past Lent. We found it extremely useful every day during lent. Using it was also a form of penance as it involved "doing something" rather than "giving up something."
