More About the Author

Carol Vale was born in a small country town in Queensland. Carol grew up in a large family that had very little money for even the basic needs. During her childhood she spent many hours cooking for her family, that is where her love of cooking and experimenting with ingredients was born. Over the years of cooking for her family she learnt how to make the most out of what she had and to keep it simple. Although she has no professional qualifications as a chef, Carol has spent numerous years working in kitchens, firstly as a kitchen hand and eventually cooking.
Carol has a simple, easy approach to cooking and enjoys making it fun. This is why her cookbooks centre on easy to follow and use recipes. Hence her motto "Keep it fun. Keep it simple"

We recently purchased a house and this is going to be our first Easter here. We want to make this holiday memorable as it is fast approaching. That's when I stumbled upon this book and I am so glad I did!

We have already tried a few things out of here and this Easter we know some new recipes we are going to try out! We are actually learning a lot about cooking for Easter and different ways to make all kinds of things! By the way..Chocolate Crackle Baskets and Easter Ganache Slice...DELICIOUS!

Want to make your Easter stand out this year? Get this book! Its fun for everyone in the family. Looking forward to our first Easter in our new house! Our guests are going to be so surprised thanks to this book!

Looks like this could be a fun cookbook, but the need for proofreading is apparent by the third recipe (for Smartie Chocolate Rabbits) which calls for:

15 ozs (200grams)

but doesn't tell you what ingredient you need.

Dear Author:

Get someone to proofread this for you, someone who can catch obvious errors like this. I'd be really frustrated to start a recipe only to discover halfway through that some important ingredient, amount, or direction is missing. As I said, this could have been an entertaining cookbook with fun recipes, but I have no tolerance (free book or not) for such blatant indication of lack of editing. Sorry, but there's no excuse for errors like this.

You will find lots of Easter recipes in the Easter Treats & Sweets cookbook by Carol Vale. Unfortunately the recipes are not written for US cooks as the recipes use European measurements. Below is a sample ingredients list from the White Chocolate Easter Egg Cupcakes:

White Chocolate Easter Egg Cupcakes

3 ozs (85 grams) white chocolate, chopped
1 egg
1/2 cup self raising flour
1/2 cup plain flour
1/2 cup milk
1 cup castor sugar
4.5 ounces (125 grams) butter, chopped
Icing:
2 cups icing sugar
2 ozs (50 grams) butter, softened
2 tablespoons milk
Mini Easter eggs to decorate

Also, it would have helped to have a dictionary to translate some of the European terms for US cooks.

There is a wide variety of recipes such as:

Easter Biscuits
White Choc Jelly Bean Easter Crackle
Caramello Egg Brownies

You will find an active table of contents making navigation easy.

Recommend with caveats given.

Easter treats and sweets by Carol Vale
Wow all recipes are for the Easter holiday and there is a foreword about that specific holiday in the book.
There are no pictures of the treats but very detailed instructions on how to make the edible treats that you can tell are easy to make.
Lot of traditional Easter and chicken things that anybody can do at home.
