About the Author

Les Sirkin (R.I.P) was an eminent geologist, professor, and prolific author. A retired professor of earth sciences at Adelphi University in New York, Sirkin studied glaciated regions and coastal plains in the northeast United States, southeast Alaska, and coastal regions of western Mexico. He had published numerous research papers on various geological periods. In addition to Long Island study, he was the author of "Block Island Geology," "Western Long Island Geology" and coauthor of "Earth History and Plate Tectonics."
