5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Shoe
This is my second pair of Eastlands. The last pair lasted for six years. They are a HARD shoe to break-in, but once accomplished... Like butter! They will absolutely kill your feet for a while. A trick is to get them soaked (wet) and walk around in them for a whole day and do lots of chores, then let them dry, and polishes away. They are GREAT once broken in.

3.0 out of 5 stars eastland
Nice light weight shoe, decent support but not much more. finish looks good. They must run narrow I bought the Wide and they were none to gracious in width. Soles look more plastic then rubber, but they seem to cushion none the less. Time will tell, but seem like a good purchase on a budget.

Like the shoe but need to invest in a shoe horn. Very hard to get into but once on, very comfortable.

I am not sure how these are made but the sole split (more like broke)straight across at the ball of the foot after only a couple months of wear. Not like I go jogging in them or anything. Well made shoes should not do that.

5.0 out of 5 stars First pair lasted 4 - 5 years, April 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My local Kohl's store stopped selling these so I was happy to find them on Amazon. My first pair lasted at least 4 years thanks to decent construction and my occasional application of brown-colored scuff cover (like shoe polish). The stitching eventually wore enough that walking in rain meant that water seeped through but I'm keeping that original pair for mowing the lawn in or painting. The new pair that I bought online are a size 9 and fit as nicely as the original ones. I wore them for an entire day to start with and didn't feel much discomfort in the heel at all. I think that they break in easily. The shoe horn is always a good way to extend the life of the shoe, but I would not say that it is necessary. I'm going to take good care of this pair and see if I can get them to last a long time. I like the fact that they are easy to slip on and go well with jeans. I got the brown color which have a smooth complexion rather than any type of texture or pattern to the leather.

2.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable, BUT............., February 8, 2009

I'm on my second, but my last pair of these. The shoe is very comfortable but has two really bad flaws. The first is the back of the shoes. Despite not being hard on my shoes, the backs have worn to the point that the leather has split and the stuffing is literally protruding through. This happened to a previous pair and each shoe was fixed by the shoemaker with reinforced leather [...]. This gave them an additional 6-12 months of usage. Now the same thing is happening to this pair. I'm not going to fix this pair because of the second major problem with them, the shoes scratch and shed their color by almost looking at them. Yes, minimal abrasion or friction to them cause deep scratches or erosion to the shoes finish. This is unacceptable and therefore these shoes will be discarded when totally worn out and I will not purchase them again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Comfortable but wear has a caveate, November 16, 2007
A Kid's Review
This is my second pair of these so I have to like them enough to buy them again. Be aware of two things. One, they scuff with minimal rubbing against something. In order to keep them looking good, you need to polish them very frequently. The second is a problem I had with my first pair. After about a year, the back heal leather separated revealing the internal "stuffing" of the shoe. It happened to both and had to be fixed by a local shoemaker. I am not particularly hard on things, so they are more fragile than I expected. That said, they ARE comfortable.
