4.0 out of 5 stars Good all-arounder
Interesting cut to the shoe; seems sort of a Euro/Italian cut when viewed from the top. Doesn't have that annoying slippery plastic outsole that some Eastlands have had in the past. Decent comfort with adequate arch support, though I would have liked the Comfort Unit sole. A boot version of this shoe would make those of us on the NE happy....as soon as we have winter...

3.0 out of 5 stars Starks Slip-on
I thought I found the perfect shoe. They needed just a little more arch support which I achieved with the Spenco Ploysorb Cross Trainer insole. I'm on my second pair of Starks and I have to say that the soles and tops hold up incredibly well. However, the Achilles heel is the padding around the ankle. The material used over the padding begins to deteriorate after a few...

This is a quality Eastland shoe and is very comfortable. This slip on hugs the foot very well. The nubuck leather brushes out fairly easy with a regular shoe brush. As recommended, I sprayed the shoes with a waterproof, stain resistant protectant prior to wearing them, and will spray periodically to protect the leather. This is a good looking shoe. If you like slip on shoes, you will like how this shoe looks and feels.

The material used over the padding begins to deteriorate after a few months even though I always use a shoe horn. On my first pair, yellow padding material came through which was clearly visible while wearing. Apparently the manufacturer was made aware of the issue, because the second pair, which is now deteriorating in the same place, has less noticeable black padding coming through. The search continues.

4.0 out of 5 stars Slip Sliding Away, November 10, 2011

When I saw these shoes online I just had to get them. I loved the way they looked. Of course I purchased them from Amazon since I do most of my shopping with them. Like a lot of men I don't enjoy going out to shop and so prefer to do my research online and purchase's from Amazon. When they arrived the first thing that struck me was that they looked a little larger then my other shoes. Sure enough, and as one reviewer mentioned, they were a good one size larger than my normal size 10 that I wear. My other size ten's, Timberland, New Balance, Hush Puppies, Florsheim etc., all fit me perfectly. But, the Eastland's look good and with some fairly thin cushions and two pairs of socks they're comfortable and fit nicely, though they do make my feet look big. Strangely enough I seem to do better with the ladies when I wear them.Hmmmm?

I love these shoes. They have a very comfy feel---even though they are a little less than a half size too big (I wear 2 pair of socks with these for this reason). I ordered an 11.5 W in these and I wear a size 12ee in New Balance and 11.5ee in Asics, so yeah, these may run just a smidge big. On the other hand, if you want extra easy slip in/out capability maybe you'll want 'em a bit big.
