I truly believe these are the best quality shoes that I have ever owned. I have purchased much more expensive shoes that have fallen apart within a year - if you don't like this style, don't buy them because they will probably NEVER wear out. I love them, they are exactly what I was looking for - sturdy, comfortable, well-made shoes with soles that give good traction in ice/snow, they look great with cords or jeans. They replace a similar pair of shoes that I have worn for almost 10 years now and I am extremely pleased with this purchase. If the previous review concerns you I suggest you invest in a shoe horn. My old shoes also required a shoe horn the first few times I slipped into them but the elastic will begin to give slightly with wear. Probably a problem if you have a very high arch (which I do not) as the top of the shoe will irritate the top of your foot, but in my case the shoes were broken-in comfortable from the moment I put them on with excellent support. They are equally comfortable with thin or thick wool socks. Love em!

I have been buying these shoes for about 8 or 9 years now and every pair I have had from eastland has been great quality and comfortable. Until the open road design I just got and had to send back. These are very attractive. However the elastic inserts that I always look for in there shoes were worthless in this particular style because there is stitching around the strap and buckle that renders the elastic useless. They do not stretch at all to fit over your foot while trying to put them on. The top of the shoe is quite high, which is very attractive but you need some give in order to slip them on and there is NO give. I could barely get one shoe on and that without a sock, the other I could not get on at all. Very disappointing. So back they go.

Hooray, I finally found these shoes in my size on Amazon.com JCPenney carries the Eastland brand but not this style. They are true to size and extremely comfortable and versatile.

Shoes are very solid and well constructed. I have worn them for about 2 months now (not every day). They are finally starting to break in, they were quite stiff when I first got them.

I love this boot! Getting lots of compliments. I usually wear a 6 1/2 (without socks), so I ordered a 7...fits perfectly. A couple of things...if you have a high arch, it may be too tight. Also, after the first wearing, I noticed a couple of scuffs on the toe, so I polished them with a brown shoe polish and buffed them out with my brush. I'm ordering them in black too.

I purchased this shoe about a year ago in brown and was quite happy with them so this year I bought a black pair They look great on and have had a lot of complements on them. They are comfortable but they certainly not very comfortable after a long period of time. They go on tight as there is little give but that's what SHOEHORNS are for!
