5.0 out of 5 stars Eastman Heavyduty meat grinder
If you are looking for a heavy duty meat grinder this is the one. Good value. The accessories are well made and just right for most any application.

This grinder works well. Overall craftsmanship is definitely lacking, Made In China is cast on the side, while grinding meat it sounded as if there were parts grinding however i do not believe they actually were. I am very curious as to the quality of the metal used in this grinder and wether or not it is safe for food use... as the other people wrote in their reviews which was true, the non stainless steel parts rust FAST, i suggest washing the parts and oiling with a food grade oil or just vege oil after washing... overall it ground the meat i put through it quite well...

3.0 out of 5 stars Burly Grinder for a decent price., December 21, 2011

I bought this grinder based on the small number of reviews posted on Amazon. When I received the grinder, the friendly folks at the US Postal Service ensured that they did a great job of handling my package with the utmost disregard as the styrofoam that encapsulates the grinder was in about 3 dozen pieces. After vacuuming out all the foam bits and retrieving my grinder from the box, I found that it was very simple to assemble. Being made in China was an immediate turn-off but that is the way of the world these days. The grinder does not come with any mounting bolts or clamps so I purchased a 6" X 18" X 2" thick wooden cutting board to mount it to. I have only used it twice and both times I found that, for its size, it can handle a large quantity of meat. I placed three pounds of beef chunks into the grinder and still had room inside before meat began to find its way through the plate. Cleaning the grinder prior to use was a bit of a chore as it was coated in a metal preservative wax substance similar to Cosmolene that is found on surplus military rifles. I alleviated this issue by placing the whole grinder dissassembled in a sink full of scalding hot water with dish soap. One issue I found as noted by another review is that the parts rust very quickly. Namely the blades and plates as they are not coated in a protective coating. I alleviated this issue by storing the plates in a ziploc bag full of cooking oil. Of note, without mounting this grinder to a stationary surface, it is a two man job to grind meat. One person to feed the grinder and rotate the handle, and another person to hold down on the board to keep the grinder from moving. After several cleanings, I noticed that small corrosion spots became present throughout the grinder body. This is a result of insufficient coating applications. I keep the grinder stored fully coated in Pam Cooking Spray to prevent further corrosion. One problem I encountered with the grinder is that you must ensure the meat you grind contains almost no tendons, sinew, or other stringy parts of meat. These parts find their way around the backside of the blades and tend to hold back the meat for grinding. Expect a bit of meat waste once you finish and disassemble the grinder. There are some pockets of space inside which hold meat well... well away from the blades. I have not used the sausage stuffer accessories yet, but I believe they will perform as advertised. Overall, the grinder works well albeit a few preservation issues.

This is a heavy duty grinder that works well. I use it for ginding up things for my garden. charcold and weeds for my compost. It does a great job. It needs to be mounted to work right. this is not something to mount on a table.

It worked great for the first couple pounds. I cleaned the grinding plate because it seemed to not be working well then I had a lot of trouble getting it screwed back on. ground a couple more pounds plugged again. Even more trouble screwing on the cap, finely got it on and started grinding and it popped right off.

Don't buy this grinder! Tried to grind up the meat from one deer, took all afternoon to grind up half of it. Finally gave up and froze the remainder of the meat and will get an electric grinder later to finish the job. Tried everything that I could think of to make this thing work, sharpened the blade, tried the meat frozen, halfway thawed, thawed completely, small chunks, large chunks and nothing seemed to work. I guess that the only reason that I gave it a one star rating is because there is no zero rating. Eastman Outdoors #32 Meat GrinderOh well I can use it next summer, Anchors Away!
