Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Get geared up to deep-fry turkeys with this cookware and burner kit. Thanks to the compact burner and aluminum cookware, you won't have to hire a trailer to take this cooking show to a friend's or a tailgate party. The 28-quart deep-fry pot and basket can handle a 16-pound turkey, a couple of chickens, or a small family of game hens. The kit's marinade injector disperses up to 2 ounces of marinade in one shot through 12 holes in the stainless-steel needle. Use Eastman's recipes, such as Twisted Citrus Sauce and Bayou Bob's Boiled Crawfish, to jump-start your outdoor cooking. Designed for compact stability, Eastman's 170,000-Btu burner has a steel frame and wide base. A 39-inch hose and heat regulator give you distance from your fuel tank and a handle on the flame. At the end of your deep-fry session, pop the legs off the burner for tidy storage inside the pot. --Emily Bedard

2.0 out of 5 stars Aluminum not a good buy, November 23, 2001
This review is from: Eastman Outdoors 38065 Aluminum Turkey Fry Pot with 170,000 BTU Burner (Lawn & Patio)
The burner provided with this unit will burn a hole in the bottom of the aluminum pot very quickly if there is not any water or oil in it. We're talking a matter of about 2-3 minutes here. I have a pot with a hole in it to prove it. I have subsequently ordered the Stainless steel pot. The aluminum pots are very soft and it is also possible to scrape them with stainless steel utensils. I am used to commercial cookware mainly. The only aluminum pots I have have a 1/4 inch of aluminum on the bottom. As this thing was a gift, I will take it to a welding shop and have a large aluminum plate welded to the bottom after the hole is cleaned-up, the wife will never know. It is my fault for not putting in the oil before placing it on the burner, but I was just boiling away the water from cleaning it out, which is standard kitchen procedure. Plenty of heat, which is what you need, but buy the stainless rig.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only unsafe if improperly used, November 25, 2002

Though I can't speak to this particular product, I've also seen the UL video footage, and even that comes with the disclaimer that they were not following directions.

I just had some delicious fried turkey yesterday, so please don't let the potential dangers scare you off. A charcoal grill could be equally as dangerous, if used improperly.

Just a few tips:
1. READ THE DIRECTIONS! Don't let your manliness get in the way of this one. You're working with boiling oil and an open flame connected to a propane tank. You don't want to learn the hard way here.
2. Use only as much oil that will cover the turkey. You don't want to over fill the pot...this is what the UL testers did to force the oil to overflow.
3. NEVER use a frozen turkey. Make sure that it's fully thawed, and patted dry with a paper towel. You probably know how oil reacts when you put frozen french fries into a skillet. Imagine that same reaction with 8 gallons, and a 10 lb ice block of a bird.

If you stay safe, and use your head, these cookers can be a great tool, and produce an incredible meal. Bon appetit & happy thanksgiving!

5.0 out of 5 stars From beer brewing to footall frying outdoors, October 20, 2001

We aren't only beer enthusiasts but we also do alot of outdoor camping and football get togethers. This product is supurb. We use the burner to brew a batch of beer on and it is easily regulated. Also we have used the whole setup to fix a few batches of hotwings for backyard get togethers. When we are camping it is our primary food cooker. And on the topic of durable, this thing outlasts. We haven't used the food injector with the original setup but I use it in my everyday BBQing and food preperation. I would recomend this product to anyone!!!
