There have been many wonderful jazz concerts recorded at Carnegie Hall. My collection is full of them -- Benny Goodman, Billie Holliday with Count Basie and Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, Chick Corea, Woody Herman, Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker.....to name a few.
This album goes right up near the top. Period. It's a splendid mix of solos, vocals, a big band led by Jon Faddis, and more than a few good licks by jazz-buff and empresario Clint Eastwood. There's a freshness and enjoyment that is enhanced by fine sound and presence.
New York seems to be the center of a jazz renaissance. Some of it is retrospective and in that regard maybe this album is a bit neo-classical in form. But if like me, you want to introduce jazz to friends or take heart in some creative drive that that pumps much-needed life into the genre, run out and buy this.

This is by far one of the greatest jazz CD's I have ever purchased. It was recommended to me by a good friend and, of course, with Clint's name all over it, I ran out to buy it. Since then, I have given it as a gift to over a dozen people. This CD has crisp, Autumn days and steamy Summer nights written all over it. You'll want to chill out with a good wine while listening to this one . . . you may find yourself yearning for that special someone who is out there somewhere . . . good jazz can do that to you.
Enjoy

I bought it, because I wanted to get know Clint Eastwood as a musician and a composer. Because music is his first love. We all know, that "Country favoirites" was just his beginning of a long and distinguished creative foray into music. But he has written also the moody, and at times hauntingly beautiful scores for his films like Mystic River, A Perfect World, Changeling, etc.. This product gives a great chance to join with an ensemble that's got the chops. It broughts him to the spotlight differently. In the spirit of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Rawhide" on October 17, 1996, veteran and contemporary jazz greats gathered for a select soiree on the stage of New York's Carnegie Hall, saluting a guy more noted for making popular films than for making music. But as any fan of Clint Eastwood will attest, the award - winning star is also an inveterate jazz lover, who has uniquely integrated that musical form into the scores of his films. Join Joshua Redman, Christian McBride. Flip Philips, Charles McPherson, James Rivers, Slide Hampton, Hank Jones, Thelonious Monk Jr., the Kyle Eastwood Quartet, the Carnegie Hall Jazz Band and more for this scintillating celebration of film and music. With Clint Eastwood Blues. Good listening!

This was an excellent CD for anyone who like traditional jazz. Great concert featuring artist that I didn't expect and was very surprise that Clint Eastwood played piano on the final number and was very good at it. The cd was filled with excellent music by well known and respected artist.

Fantastic jazz from great young and old jazz musicians, along with The Kyle Eastwood Quartet, and Clint Eastwood finishing on piano... a good listen!

There is no doubt, this is the ultimate Jazz CD. I have the DVD also. This is a classic that every Jazz aficianado must have in their collection. I totally agree with the other reviews. I won't bother to repeat their comments but I want everyone to know that this is a once in a lifetime experience that should not be missed. The best part is, you can relive this experience over and over? Kudos to Clint Eastwood for his contributon to the world of Jazz. What a shame that this is now in limited edition and soon to fade away. This should be preserved in a vault at the Smithsonian!
