5.0 out of 5 stars This album has it all!
There have been many wonderful jazz concerts recorded at Carnegie Hall. My collection is full of them -- Benny Goodman, Billie Holliday with Count Basie and Sarah Vaughan, Duke Ellington, Chick Corea, Woody Herman, Gerry Mulligan and Chet Baker.....to name a few.

This album goes right up near the top. Period. It's a splendid mix of solos, vocals, a big band led by...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Jazz Artists: Wanted More Eastwood piano
The jazz musicians who performed this tribute were excellent. Clint comments throughout on the artists and there are brief clips from his movies. I hoped that Clint would play at least one number, but the one piano performance he started at the end of the dvd lasted only seconds and then the credits rolled shortly after he started playing. I wish they had completed...

Period. It's a splendid mix of solos, vocals, a big band led by Jon Faddis, and more than a few good licks by jazz-buff and empresario Clint Eastwood. There's a freshness and enjoyment that is enhanced by fine sound and presence.

New York seems to be the center of a jazz renaissance. Some of it is retrospective and in that regard maybe this album is a bit neo-classical in form. But if like me, you want to introduce jazz to friends or take heart in some creative drive that that pumps much-needed life into the genre, run out and buy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Light your fireplace and pour a good brandy, November 18, 1998

This is by far one of the greatest jazz CD's I have ever purchased. It was recommended to me by a good friend and, of course, with Clint's name all over it, I ran out to buy it. Since then, I have given it as a gift to over a dozen people. This CD has crisp, Autumn days and steamy Summer nights written all over it. You'll want to chill out with a good wine while listening to this one . . . you may find yourself yearning for that special someone who is out there somewhere . . . good jazz can do that to you.

Enjoy

The jazz musicians who performed this tribute were excellent. Clint comments throughout on the artists and there are brief clips from his movies. I hoped that Clint would play at least one number, but the one piano performance he started at the end of the dvd lasted only seconds and then the credits rolled shortly after he started playing. I wish they had completed showing his performance on the piano on this dvd instead of cutting it off. My disappointment this is respect lead me to give an otherwise outstanding dvd 3 stars.

There is no doubt, this is the ultimate Jazz CD. I have the DVD also. This is a classic that every Jazz aficianado must have in their collection. I totally agree with the other reviews. I won't bother to repeat their comments but I want everyone to know that this is a once in a lifetime experience that should not be missed. The best part is, you can relive this experience over and over? Kudos to Clint Eastwood for his contributon to the world of Jazz. What a shame that this is now in limited edition and soon to fade away. This should be preserved in a vault at the Smithsonian!

5.0 out of 5 stars Music- Great, Liner Notes- Terrible, September 21, 2007
This review is from: Eastwood After Hours: Live At Carnegie Hall (Audio CD)
A person with twenty-twenty vision, or even the eyes of an eagle, will get a headache and never read a liner note again after attempting this third rate listing of the contents of the two disks.
First of all, the notes are written in white against a red background. Secondly, the editors found a font smaller than 4 and partly in italics. The result is first a headache, then, fahgettaboutit.
I happen to love jazz, and always want to know who is performing on any particular track. As I write this I am trying to decipher the notes and write them out so I can re-write them for myself. I had to stop after track four and rest my eyes. were I Mr. Eastwood, or any of the artists on this release I would have complained loudly and issued a public apology for the lack of respect the people responsible for the notes displayed towards all the artists involved.
