From School Library Journal
Grade 5-9-- Likable, believable characters from Harrell's West Mount High provide a well-written, if not momentous teenage novel on learning to live with the difficulties and unexpected complications of life. Competing for a place as a foreign exchange student, dating a boy disliked by one's parents, conflicting feelings about radical parents, and love are themes lightly, but not unrealistically explored. A pleasant additional purchase. --Alice Cronin, Mountainside Public Library, NJ
