Excellent book packed with great info,
By Angel Lee "Liocorno Amethyst Moonstone" (Cleveland, OH United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: Easy-Care Guide to Houseplants (Paperback)
This is an excellent book for learning to grow & care for houseplants. It is full-color and packed with photos. It is loaded with advice on basic care & propagation, as well as elimination of pests & diseases. I loved how it helped me choose a proper container for each plant & the appropriate room for its needs. I was also impressed that there were step-by-step instructions for installing supports for hanging plants & a growing stand. An indispensable plant glossary in the back lists the plants by family. A photo is included along with common name, scientific name, size, description & propagation methods. Light, soil, & temperature needs are also here. The differences between the plant families are explained as well & many of the plants that make them up are listed. It even gives you decorating hints. Before you buy any houseplants, you must read this book.

Growing plants is easy after all!,

This review is from: Easy-Care Guide to Houseplants (Paperback)
I picked up Jack Kramer's book Easy-Care Guide to Houseplants at an Ace Hardware store when I was first attempting to grow some other houseplants besides the unkillable Devil's Ivy. As far as your basic guide to plant care goes, this is the stuff. I'm constantly thumbing through it when I need to figure out which plants would thrive best in a dark bedroom or a bright kitchen. Plus the photos are simply beautiful. Some of the highlights of the book include decorating with plants, choosing houseplants, growing herbs inside, picking the right containers, raising and grooming, propagating and understanding plant problems. This handy book also gives you step-by-step instructions on how to build your own knockdown growing stand.(...)

This was a very informative book. I have never been a able to keep a plant alive before. Now people say I have a green thumb. My home and deck are full of healthy beautiful plants. Every plant,in the book, has a great photo and full discription of light needs and exact fertilizer times and needs. I have had a hard time finding a few of the fertilizers needed, so I may start tring some of the great fertilizer recipes given. Every thing needed is here. How to propigate, transplant, divide. A full list of discriptions of possible plant problems and the solutions. I would suggest this book to anyone as a great resource. As a matter of fact, I've lent it out a few times.(But I make sure to get it bact soon)

A beautiful book for beginners.,

Easy-Care Guide to Houseplants is a beautiful book to look at, but it is for the beginner. The "how to" section does go into detail with beautiful pictures showing you each step of the way. The decorating ideas look nice, but it would be more practical if they were silk plants. The placement of the plants is very impractical, either the plants don't get enough light or watering the plants would be a hugh chore. The Plant Profiles is just an introduction to houseplants. This book is definitely not for the experienced houseplant person who is looking for real information on individual plants. Experienced houseplant people keep looking this book isn't for you.

Too simplistic. Too many pictures and not enough information. Even the info given is not detailed enough. Many common household plants mot even listed ex.the snake plant. I purchased this book on the great reviews and this is the first time I'm very disappointed. Trust me and save your money.

This book took a little time to arrive, but still arrived within the specified time frame. It is a real quick overview of growing most types of house plants. I enjoyed the diagrams that came with the instructions on how to build things for your plants. It had some nice decorating ideas. It had to be very general in most planning descriptions but did offer up new ideas for decorating with plants. The plant descriptions themselves are short and you need to do a little looking to find a specific one, but nice pictures. I refer back to it repeatedly since I am a beginner with house plants and have had no luck with plants of any kind at all in the past. So far all of my newly purchased plants are thriving and I did follow some of the advice in this book. I think anyone can follow along nicely.

This is a good book, but not overly in depth on anything. About 1/3 of the book is on decorating using houseplants and I liked seeing the different places and ways that we can display our houseplants. There are a few pages for types of containers, raising and grooming plants;what types of lighting one can use; potting, good section on propagating; a section on plant profiles; lots of nice, beautiful single photos of plants and a short essay on where the plant likes to grow indoors.
I think it is well worth purchasing and most people will find it informative. Like I said it's short and sweet ( just the facts mam).

Need A Hobby, Get This Book,
This review is from: Easy-Care Guide to Houseplants (Paperback)
Most of us have time for only one thing nowadays, simplicity. This book simplifies caring for house plants. I still cannot find 20-10-10 plant food it recommends [for my aloe plant], but that's a small thing. I'll probably find it online.

Must Have Reference Book!,

I have yet to met someone who wouldn't appreciate a healthy indoor plant. This book is excellent - it's concise, informative and written in a way even the most inexperienced plant owner can understand. It's worth buying just for the pictures alone! Come on, bring nature indoors!
