It's a shame that this album seems to have gone unnoticed in the flood of re-released "Original Jazz Classics"
I discovered this disc by accident in my High School radio room. The Timmons Trio has the tightest of grooves here, with some really hip arrangements. The title track is worthy of a "best of OJC" compilation.
This is a great trio in the range of Ahmad Jamal, Red Garland, Tommy Flannagan, but just slightly edgier.

Bobby Timmons, who will eternally be tied to Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, had a great trio. They could swing with the best of them. Like the other reviewer mentioned, I, too, find it strange that not many people have checked his work out and in particular "Easy Does It." Timmons is joined by Sam Jones on bass and Jimmy Cobb on drums. This trio is very tight, but flexible, that never fails but to delight the listener. Jazz fans take notice one of the greats of jazz piano. Highly recommended.

Simply an excellent album, probably as good as any that Timmons produced, which is saying something. This trio with Sam Jones and Jimmy Cobb is utterly delightful and first-rate. Tremendously fun and inventive rhythm section backing up a piano player of the same ilk. Loaded with personality. Get it!

Bobby is at his musical peak in the piano jazz trio settings in this album. He has chops, excellent interpretation and a style that is his alone. A major reason why I love this album is that it's Bobby outside of the Jazz Messengers, which is where I was first introduced to him. In fact, I think he truly shines in jazz piano trio ensembles and this album confirms that for me.

Another thing I love is although he had not moved to the soul style that he would later develop you can hear a foreshadowing of it here.

While there are no sound samples on this page, and the linked MP3 album at the top of this page takes you to an album by the same title, but by a different artist, samples do exist. Go to This Here Is Bobby Timmons / Easy Does It, which is an MP3 album comprised of this and another early 60s Timmons album. There you can listen to sound samples starting at track 10 on that album. Those will clearly convey the high level of musicianship of Timmons and his backing ensemble, as well as the energy. Those samples will tell you more about this album in a few seconds per track than I can possibly describe in words.

This album was recorded in the Reeves Sound Studios in NYC on January 13 and 14, 1960. Bobby is backed by Sam Jones on bass and Jimmy Cobb on drums. If you are a fan I also recommend that you check out Essential Jazz Masters, which is a little over three and a half hours of Timmons as both a leader and a sideman.

One of the best jazz trio recordings of all time. These guys were at the top of their game. The playing is so nimble, off-handed and effortless it absolutely blows my mind. Aside from technique and chops this recording is simply fun and wildly entertaining.

I really can't imagine anyone who digs the piano-led jazz trio to fail to be impressed with this great performance.
