From Booklist

Gold's nameless female protagonist is outspoken, sometimes crude, confident, and single. Finding a boyfriend or husband who meets her criteria--handsome, smart, Jewish, financially secure, fun, and sexy--has been no easy task. While she roams the Jewish singles scene in London with girlfriends who are also unattached, the narrator begins to understand herself better. Why does she continue to practice law when she doesn't enjoy it? Why does she shy away from attractive, grounded, serious men and instead pursue sexy but commitment-shy boys who cannot grow up? Why does she like the drama so much? As with most modern single-women tales, Gold's heroine cannot find a husband until she finds herself, but she acquires many funny (if sometimes frustrating) stories. Gold rarely mentions married life as she fills the narrator's world with singles, some looking to settle down, others just looking for a good time. Readers will enjoy this tale full of raunchy humor, alcohol, drugs, and late nights, as well as the heroine's diatribes on solo life in a big, cosmopolitan city. Michelle Kaske

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful uplifting read, October 27, 2002
This review is from: Easy (Paperback)
I picked this one up on a run to Fiji, regain my sanity jaunt, expecting the usual saccarine heroine and life saving romance. Instead this book was so honest and uplifting and laugh out loud funny , an absolute joy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Outrageously Witty and All Too Real, January 8, 2002
By
This review is from: Easy (Paperback)
I picked up my copy of 'Easy' in a discount bookstore in Edinburgh in October, and am now disappointed for other readers that it is out of print! Gold's decidedly autobiographical tale of her journey to find 'the one' is both incredibly hillarious and at times painfully tragic; there is drama-a-plenty in this woman's life to be certain! I laughed out loud until I had tears in my eyes on several ocassions. At the onset I felt the book might be entertaining but lack substance...I was wrong...although it does become repetitive at times. This is a story better left untold in terms of its lessons...better that you simply make the journey yourself with her. And if, like myself, you've learned these lessons already you will nonetheless be well entertained!

2.0 out of 5 stars Funny, but shallow, April 9, 2003

Laura (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Easy (Paperback)
I love a good chick lit book--I'm on a first name basis with Bridget, Jemima and Becky, but the nameless chick of Easy is someone I wouldn't want to be around. The book is funny, but the character spends the entire book talking about sex and pot. Her constant approach to finding a man based on the size of his package is funny at first, but sad and pathetic in the end. I felt like there wasn't really a whole lot of plot to pull me into this self-absorbed, sexually promiscuous and chemically altered world.
