From Library Journal
Hodgson offers a selection of uncomplicated but interesting recipes for dinner parties and weekend entertaining. Organized into menus for a wide variety of occasions, they range from her homey Braised Beef Brisket for a Warming Dinner to a delicious Sea Bass Grilled over Fennel for an Exotic Spring Dinner. Each menu includes helpful advance preparation notes and wine suggestions. Overpriced, but still recommended. Sorosky's eclectic collection of recipes is intended for occasions such as a Rise and Shine Breakfast, a Stand-Out Sit-Down Chicken Dinner, or for one Salmonchanted Evening. She's enthusiastic, but some dishes seem ordinary, others overly trendy. Susan Wyler's more ambitious Cooking for a Crowd ( LJ 4/88) is a better choice. JS
