1.0 out of 5 stars NOT BPA-FREE! Beware before you buy....
I purchased these because the Premier containers were listed as having BPA in them. I was very bummed to find out that these DO contain phthalates and BPA according to an independent study done on plastic containers by Good Housekeeping. The study is here http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/product-testing/reviews-tests/kitchen-cooking/plastic-safety-heat-food-6. If you...

I was disappointed that the product description doesn't list the sizes & quantities included in this set. I actually had to find it in a retail store, in order to verify that it had enough 2 cup containers. So, the primary reason I'm writing this review is to save others the trouble of doing the same. This set includes the following containers (and matching lids):
4 x 0.5 cup (118 mL)
4 x 1.25 cup (296 mL)
5 x 2 cup (473 mL)
4 x 3 cup (710 mL)
3 x 5 cup (1200 mL)
2 x 7 cup (1700 mL)

The construction and materials easily matched my expectations, based on other Rubbermaid products I own. The design is clever - lids snap together to stack easily & securely, and they also snap to the bottoms of the containers. These are dishwasher-safe, microwave-safe, and freezer-safe. Also, these are clearer than my other Rubbermaid food storage containers, which is quite nice.

Finally, Rubbermaid lists this series as BPA-free. I was surprised to see how many of my old Rubbermaid containers are, as well! For more info, see:

http://www.rubbermaid.com/rubbermaid/bpa-info.jhtml

I bought these to replace some containers that are probably not BPA-free (i.e. most plastic food & beverage containers), and I encourage everyone to do the same - especially if you have children. Recycle or find non-food uses for your non-verifiably safe containers.

Addendum: the only issue I've so far found is a fairly minor one - that it can be a bit tricky to get the lid to snap securely to the bottom of a container. This is useful for stacking non-empty containers and for keeping the lids from ending up at the bottom of my dishwasher. The problem is that while it's easy to snap 3 sides, the 4th can be a bit tough. The technique I've adopted is to slightly twist back & forth, while attaching.

5.0 out of 5 stars No more lost lids!, October 24, 2008
This review is from: 34 Pc Easy Find Lids Set By Rubbermaid (Kitchen)
I received this set a couple days ago and finally put it away. I was pleased to see so many different sizes. Some of the containers are the same shape but the depths are different.

I knew that the lids snapped together for better storage but to my delight the lids also snap to the bottom of the container! No more trying to find the right lid for the right container. I cleaned out the cabinets thinking I would need a lot of room for the storage but they don't take up much space at all if they are stacked together.

Rubbermaid has always made a very good product and I look forward to using these for a very long time.

This is a five star product. I love the variety of sizes/capacity of this set. BUT...the best feature are the snap together lids. They snap and stack for easy storage. I would recommend this product to any looking for great kitchen/fridge storage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love them!, February 27, 2009
This review is from: 34 Pc Easy Find Lids Set By Rubbermaid (Kitchen)
A few weeks ago, if you would have stepped into my kitchen, you would have been inundated by the wrath of the Kitchen Cabinet Gods. You know the ones. They throw food containers at you when you open a cabinet. I had every size and shape of food storage container imaginable. I even had things that werent meant to be storage. Butter containers, sour cream containers, cool whip containers, etc... Come on, I know most of the people reading this are shaking their head yes in agreement. You know you have that stuff too! I finally got tired of being hit in the head by the food storage, so I broke down and bought this set. I looked at the 24 piece set as well, but I didnt want to run into the problem of running out of containers. We eat A LOT of leftovers in my house with the economy the way it is. I wasnt about to start collecting the Cool Whip containers again. So I got this 44 piece set. Boy was I pleasntly surprised! This set has enough sizes to fit everything, and they all stack together pretty well. They sit neatly in the cabinets, and they even stick together on top of each other in the fridge, which means no overturned containers! And the price is well worth it too. I would have payed anything to be able to open a cupboard and NOT get hit in the head. This set will make your life much easier, and organized. The wrath of the Kitchen Cabinet Gods is now gone, and everything is peaceful again. I did, however, keep ONE cool whip container for tomato sauce stuff. I dont want to ruin my nice containers!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice set overall...the 4 tiny ones are just silly, January 5, 2009

This review is from: 34 Pc Easy Find Lids Set By Rubbermaid (Kitchen)
I was looking to ditch the billions and billions of mismatched random containers my wife and mother-in-law had accumulated. I could NEVER find the correct lid, especially to fit square containers. I gave them (the wife and MIL) 2 weeks notice and told them to adopt any of the old containers but keep them out of the kitchen. I ordered this set because of concerns about BPA for our 2 small children...the Rubbermaid site claims this one is BPA-free while the Premier version with the completely clear plastic contains some BPA to make the plastic super clear. My MIL has some of the premier ones and these (Easy Find) are clear enough to see your food OK, and I don't miss the little window in the lid that the Premier has.

When this Rubbermaid Easy Find set arrived I was quite pleased. It's hard to tell from the angle in the single photo but there are exactly 3 (three) lid sizes total. That's precisely what I wanted, ultimate simplicity matching lid possibilities to the container size. You know, just pick up any of the containers for your volume of food... and have it be OBVIOUS which lid would fit.

Overall the sizes are pretty good, but the 4 tiny ones are pretty superfluous. I can't imagine having a leftover or any realistic situation when I'm going to store that small an amount of food. Ever. Also the set could use a few more large ones and a couple longer/rectangular ones...which I'll probably order separately to keep my wife happy.

The locking together is nice enough but not essential...the containers and lids do stack nicely which is great because they take up surprisinly little shelf space for the whole set. Both the lids and containers trap plenty of water in the dishwasher, so you have to hand dry or leave out to air dry completely...but so do most of the cheapo containers.

Conclusion: a good buy, no BPA, and generally a good starter set. The 4 tiny ones are superfluous.

5.0 out of 5 stars Containers are great - here's how to choose the right set, February 19, 2010
This review is from: 34 Pc Easy Find Lids Set By Rubbermaid (Kitchen)
I am very happy with the Easy Find Lid series. They are very good quality. But then, the many, many other reviewers who all also love this set will tell you that.

So here's some information that is harder to find: all the sets of these that I could find available, and the contents of each set, all in one place.

----------
50 piece set (25 containers, 25 lids):
6 x 0.5 cups (118 mL)
6 x 1.25 cups (296 mL)
3 x 2 cups (473 mL)
3 x 3 cups (710 mL)
3 x 5 cups (1.2 Liter)
2 x 7 cups (1.7 Liter)
2 x Divided 4.8 cups (1.4 Liter)
----------
48 piece set (24 containers, 24 lids):
6 x 0.5 cups (118 mL)
5 x 1.25 cups (296 mL)
2 x 2 cups (473 mL)
3 x 3 cups (710 mL)
4 x 5 cups (1.2 Liter)
3 x 7 cups (1.7 Liter)
1 x 14 cup (3.3 Liter)
----------
40 piece set (20 containers, 20 lids - walmart only?)
5 x 0.5 cups (118 mL)
5 x 1.25 cups (296 mL)
4 x 2 cups (473 mL)
2 x 3 cups (710 mL)
2 x 5 cups (1.2 Liter)
2 x 7 cups (1.7 Liter)
----------
36 piece set (18 containers, 18 lids):
4 x 0.5 cup (118 mL)
4 x 1.25 cup (296 mL)
5 x 2 cup (473 mL)
4 x 3 cup (710 mL)
3 x 5 cups (1.2 Liter)
2 x 7 cups (1.7 Liter)
----------
24 piece set (12 containers, 12 lids):
2 x 0.5 cups (118 mL)
2 x 1.25 cups (296 mL)
2 x 2 cups (473 mL)
2 x 3 cups (710 mL)
2 x 5 cups (1.2 Liter)
2 x 7 cups (1.7 Liter)
----------
18 piece set (9 contains, 9 lids):
3 x 0.5 cups (118 mL)
2 x 1.25 cups (296 mL)
1 x 2 cups (473 mL)
2 x 3 cups (710 mL)
1 x 5 cups (1.2 Liter)
----------

One more note - I found that buying two of the 24 piece sets was several dollars cheaper than buying either the 50 or 48 piece sets, and would provide a nicer distribution that would fit my needs better. Prices will change, of course, so this may not always be true, but it was for me.

Here's some comparison data for buying a 50 piece set, a 48 piece set, 2x24 piece set, and 3x24 piece set, all of which are in a similar price range:
1x50 piece set: 6x0.5, 6x1.25, 3x2, 3x3, 3x5, 2x7, 2x4.8divided
1x48 piece set: 6x0.5, 5x1.25, 2x2, 3x3, 4x5, 3x7, 1x14
2x24 piece set: 4x0.5, 4x1.25, 4x2, 4x3, 4x5, 4x7
3x24 piece set: 6x0.5, 6x1.25, 6x2, 6x3, 6x5, 6x7

5.0 out of 5 stars Great set of containers..., April 15, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: 34 Pc Easy Find Lids Set By Rubbermaid (Kitchen)
I brought 2 sets of these. I opened the first box and found the teeny little containers, I find them too small to be useful. So I immediately gave them to a secretary I work with and she started on how she can bring an egg to work in them, save the last bit of tomato sauce in them and some other things that I as a guy wouldn't do.
I then got home and realized that they are PERFECT for making nice large ice cubes that are big enough to fit into my hydration packs.
So needless to say, I didn't give her the other set from the second box.
The covers are VERY tight fitting which I love, and the ability to snap the items together between the lids and the bottoms is useful as well.
I do seem to think that these exhaust heat faster than other plastic containers. Although this is just by walking down the hall carrying them after nuking my lunch. The previous containers I can hold in my hand as I walk down the hall, these shed heat so much that I need to wrap them in paper towels to hold them.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good deal, February 25, 2009

This review is from: 34 Pc Easy Find Lids Set By Rubbermaid (Kitchen)
I've had my set for about four months now and so far I am very impressed. The set is just the right size for two people who cook alot of meals at home (and therefore have leftovers). These containers survive microwave, dishwasher, fridge and freezer with no noticeable deterioration. I love how they stack away neatly. BPA free too!

4.0 out of 5 stars good enough, May 17, 2009

This review is from: 34 Pc Easy Find Lids Set By Rubbermaid (Kitchen)
I bought both a 24 and 36 piece set of these. I would call them "good enough", but certainly not better than the stain shield containers (also by Rubbermaid, similar to the newer premier line) they replaced. I switched to these only because they are BPA free. I've marked up quite a few of these by microwaving food in them at work (not the end of the world). Also the lids are much harder to push on then the stain shield system. I also liked the clear containers better (these are opaque). But in the end these were the best BPA free containers I could find, and they are a great deal at this price.
