This review is from: Easy-to-Do Flower Patterns for Woodcarvers (Dover Woodworking) (Paperback)
I put two of the flowers on an entertainment cabinet I made for my wife. She and I love them. I had never carved before so I stuck to power tools, a router to set the base and a dremmel to do the carving. The patterns were not easy to interpret by themselves but the black and white photos made them work. I just keep the book open when I carve. I just purchased the earlier book by Mack Sutter and that has some very nice patterns as well.

This review is from: Easy-to-Do Flower Patterns for Woodcarvers (Dover Woodworking) (Paperback)
When I purchased this book along with the other Floral Woodcarving book I was really looking forward to getting it. I love flowers and the discription said it was a good book for beginners and had good instructions and all that. Well, I was VERY disappointed with this book and the other one. I found that being a beginner it will be awhile before I can tackle these patterns. The illustrations were not at all what I expected, black and white and actually kind of ugly, and their "instructions" were just a small paragraph that really didn't tell you much, they sure weren't step by step. I personally can't recommend this book but maybe someone who has some experience with carving already would find it to be just fine.
