Grinspoon go off yet again,
By Adam Perovic (Brisbane, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Easy (Audio CD)
Another masterpiece by a great Aussie band. Don't just shun this if you have had bad experiences buying Australian music before because this is a bloody ripper. Phil, Pat, Joe, and Kris have done it again in style. I rate this album as being better than Guide to Better Living (brilliant in its own) because you can see how they have matured from a good band to a great band. Highlight tracks are Ready 1, Secrets, Tang, Undercover, American Party Bomb, and Rock Show. Every single drum beat, guitar note, and lyric roll out of your stereo increasingly better than its predecessor. If you are into Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Lit, Live, RHCP, or any other great rock band, I strongly recommend that you spend your hard earned dollar on this piece of ryhtmic art.

Better than "guide to better living" by far,

When most bands do a follow up album to their first, it usually, well, sucks. In Grinspoon's case it's the exact oposite. Easy, Grinspoon's second album is a really great CD. If you happened to like, or love the first, then you'll never put this one down. It really rocks, by starting off with "American party bomb", the songs just get better. The only problem with this album is that the lyrics aren't included, which makes singing along hard because Phil Jamieson (the lead singer) never seems to be saying whats he's meant to even if you know the lyrics...also, the instrumental of overdriver, while delivering good music, is only an instrumental, and that sux...other than that this album really rocks...5 stars easily Let's hope Grinspoon can do it again wth their next album?

Biggest Balls In The Business,

Grinspoon sure know how to write some hard-rockin', balls-to-the-wall tunes. They made a huge impact on me with 'Guide to Better Living', and now they're back with 'Easy' and they're kickin' them out harder and faster than ever before. Some of the songs may be accused of being 'filler', but you just can't help but bang your head to tunes like 'Ready 1', 'Tang', 'Secrets', 'Rock Show', 'Signpost' and the bitchin' groove-oriented instrumental, 'Overdriver'. This is rock as it's meant to be: straight-out, no compromise, riff-heavy, and just plain moshable. 'Easy' is for when you just want to rock out. Give 'em a go ya mugs.

Well a great album from Phil and the guys from Lismore. I was very impressed with the first 8 songs and the rest were all average but overall a great album from Grinspoon. Personal favouritres: Ready One, Secrets, Rock Show. If you haven't got it buy it.

Being from Australia it is a bit hard not to be a big fan of Grinspoon. Forget that their lyrics don't really make sense, just sit back and enjoy the energy coming from your stereo. The best tracks on this album would have to be first single Ready 1, Rock show, Tang and the very impressive powerpop of violent and lazy. If you get the chance see Grinspoon live they go off!

Being an Aussie and a long way from home it's easy to lose touch with the Australian music scene. If you don't like popular dance music in England you're in trouble.I was lucky enough to have a mate send me over Grinspoon's new album for my birthday. WOW! I thought Guide to Better Living rocked! This just takes it up a notch. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find out what kind of reviews it has received back home but I'm sure they're good. I think this cd is a must for any rock fan. My only critisicm would be that it tends to lean toward the American market. I understand that the lads want to crack the market stateside (and I'm sure they will) but saying "grass doesn't grow on a busy sidewalk" is a bit much. Sidewalk? I've never heard an Aussie use that terminology. Anyway, it's well worth a listen. If you liked their first album you'll LOVE this. |
